Surely they have email or phones
I’m sure they have, but even if I had their private contact details (which I dont) I’m sure they’d not be impressed with me invading their privacy with a phone call hassling them for a decision on a banned member. I’m just guessing they might have more important issues to deal with at the moment in this new crazy world..

Was thinking...

Should Glory confess all his sins if he's allowed back on the forum ?

Obviously it's a catch 22 as he needs to be on the forum to be able to offer up his mea culpa.

Another thought is about the use of PM's ?

Seems to me it would be better to have all conversations out in the open so there is no misinterpretation or manipulation.
1) IF he returned, I’d personally not want to see a thread start of that nature. It would be raking up old ground, it would possibly be a catalyst for arguments to brew and simmer and “he said” “she said”, of course that would be for him to decide on and the rest could stay away or join in but many of us have strong personalities so I’d imagine it would kick off, as you’re posing it as a question inviting answers mine would be I’d advise against it.

2) PMs they’re there for a reason, I’ve never hidden my own personal thoughts on what I have said, If people ask my opinion I’ll happily share although obviously I have to respect others involved in any PMs. In the case of Glory I said I’d sit on the fence but if my vote was needed it would be leave the ban in place, not lift it. I’ve said if Bucks and Elland feel differently I’m happy to support them in it being lifted.

If brb comes back and says it’s up to us three to decide but it has to be unanimous then if bucks and Elland feel it is the time to lift the ban I’ll vote the same as them for the unanimous decision. I’m happy for Steve to return and post as Steve (going on what others have told me about him being a nice guy) and not the online persona I grew to know.

None of what happened in the past is personal on my part, I was asked to help admin this board, early on in that position I had to make a vote that I admit to finding very easy at the time but the fallout afterwards was a little more tricky. Since the ban Glory has in my own opinion acted in a way (up until December 2019) that has made me feel justified in my decision.

On the pm group where we await the response of brb and or Minxy, the three admins have not said a word against or in favour of lifting the ban, zero influence, just purely asking the question, how does it work? Does brb get a say, does he leave it up to us three? An invitation for his input.

In the interest of openness I don’t think I can be fairer than that...

Just remembered that for many, many years, I though it was called Blondie Beach. Seriously. Had visions of all these blonde darlings hanging out of next to nothing. Was a bit of a disappointment when I finally got there.
Not half as disappointed as all the blond darlings were. <whistle>

Best to leave the ban in place imo. Don't care if 'he's a nice guy in person', on here he's a vindictive twat. His reporting of 'illegal' streams, like a sulky child, shows that.

If one of the reasons for unbanning him is to generate more posts it'll be a case of quantity over quality, and contracting Coronavirus would be preferable to his constant moaning and groaning.

It would result in many good posters leaving, just to accommodate a WUM who tried to get the site shut down.

Makes no sense. I won't have any influence on the decision but if I did get a vote it would be a no from me.

Apologies Ristac,

I think my post was ill thought out.

None required but still appreciated, it was a good question.
Whether his ban is lifted or not though most definitely do not want to go over old ground.

It's done and we've all moved on.

Thanks for your honesty in stating where you stand.

My view is that it's unprecedented times in the world and it would be nice for all posters who are banned to be allowed back on. If they revert to type then just ban them again as moderators shouldn't be given uneccessary grief as we all have far more important things to worry about at the moment.

I feel we have a great active board with a nice mix of on and off topic posts. We have far more new members but that could have been a natural occurance, admitted many do not post regulalrly but that's fine. You only have to look at the PM group for the live streams, it's huge and nearly 30 of those have the "New Member" tag.

For me, it certainly isn't a decision on generating more posts, I actually hated the amount of posts that went off topic and the nastiness blamed on fishing and banter when it went too far and I will speak on behalf of the other two, the "lets generate more posts topic" has never been discussed between us, we did have a small drive to bring in new members and it went quite well.

It (Glory Ban) isn't actually a topic that came up between the mods, this thread was created by Eire as I assumed Glory asked him to post it? If I have got that wrong I apologise in advance. Personally I am a bit bored of the same subject cropping up over and over again but I respect everyone has an opinion. I was going to ignore most of it but then the admins were tagged in and direct questions were asked so we had to discuss it. The discussion was brief as we really need to know how it stands with brb and Minxy first

I did think this thread would have seen a more varied group of posters both calling for a lift of the ban and calling for it to remain but I'm guessing most don't really care, either that or they are too busy standing in supermarket queues

In defence of Glory...

He had made nearly 50,000 posts and had the most likes of anyone on our board.

We all err from time to time and I'd like to think I'm a better forum member from having learn't from some of my mistakes.

Nice try but not true.

And yes he made nearly 50,000 posts (47,211) but only 26.39% of these were 'liked' (12,462), one of the lowest percentages on the Leeds board of 'likes' to posts made, which kind of reiterates the quality over quantity argument.

To put this into context LL has a 35.17% ratio of posts/likes. Posts 8,156 Likes 2,869.

I like it :emoticon-0100-smile

Can you come up with some sort of leaderboard ?

I'm pretty sure Eric would be top but no idea what the top 10 would look like.

Well as you can see I have time to spare but not that much time <laugh>

But Eric has the highest number of likes from what I saw, 20,000 <yikes> but **** knows how <confused>

He must be giving himself likes from all his other accounts  <whistle>

Just to clarify glory didn’t initially ask me to post it. He mentioned to me during a chat that he’d spoken with Matt about possibility of a return. I started a pm with a few to test the ground. As there was support for his return I asked him did he want me to start a thread such as the one I did which he was happy for me to do

Incidentally and I don't expect to change your opinion but...

I'm reliably informed that were glory allowed back on the forum then the intention is for re-invention character wise, no recriminations, no repeat of bygone days but only a forward thinking attitude.

Personally think we all deserve a chance/opportunity to change...perceptions are sometimes the hardest things in life to alter but it can be done through honest endeavour and persistance...of course there will be many doubters but that's part of the insentive to prove them wrong I guess.

Jammy in the big scheme of things I'm not that bothered whether he comes back or not. It just seems to be being built up as the return of the Messiah, or Prodigal Son.

I was putting forward some reasons why some posters wouldn't want him back but are reluctant to say so.

As for reinvention character wise I'm not sure he'd be happy treading on eggshells. His whole modus operandi was to wind people up. If he has to change drastically to avoid getting banned again then what's the point? He may as well be himself (online persona) but this time know when to stop.

Fair points and I agree with most of that.

He is a very funny and entertaining person though when you're in his company. Surely it can't be too difficult for him to park the bad stuff and give us more of the good stuff.

There's a lot of truth in what you say. A whole lot.

However, thousands of Glory's posts were put up there before likes were introduced, so that buggers up the calculation.

I think in general, the newer you are on the board, the higher %age of likes you'll have. To accurately assess, you'd need to know when likes were introduced, plus each member's number of posts after likes were introduced in order to get a figure that's truly representative.
