NO DOUBT he was a brilliant player and a coach Lets all hope as I was seriously worried about Harold and our club It's great to be QPR and a brilliant bit of marketing ... With Rio, Harold and now Hoodle we have brilliant PR streams in place to accelerate the corp ID
Posted by a worshiper of a player who had 1 good season in a **** "yesterdays" league....Open your eyes mate i honestly look forward to the day you actually know what you are talking about ..good luck with the research
Glenn Hoddle's left his last job as a Manager (Wolves) on 1st July 2006. That is a full 8 years and 1.5 months ago approoximately. If he is so good, why hasn't anybody else offered him a job since then? They are the facts of the matter. Forget your personal opinions of Adel and Hoddle and look at facts. If nobody else wants Hoddle, why should we be lumbered with him??? He was a decent coach years ago. We need fresh young coaches. Not yesterday's men.
Being his last job was as a manager he may have been over looked as a coach. I'm no lover of him as a person tbh but with our current lack of really incisive attacking, I don't think his presence will hinder improvement, so why not. If we don't improve then he can be let go of. I'd rather we are trying things.
Dear Glen, as a QPR supporter of over 50 years am I being punished for sins I committed in a previous life?
Uncalled for. Why do some people feel it necessary to get so personal. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you don't like it, argue your point or otherwise ignore but why try and antagonise?
Must be of benefit to all concerned, he was playing 3-5-2 with great success when everyone else stuck with 4-4-2. He'll be innovative which is something we seriously lack at present. It must give us a boost trying to sign players as well...
Why not do some basic research? He's had 26 management offers since he left Wolves, but preferred to get his Academy up and running and self supporting before re-entering the fray. Levy asked him to go back to Spurs after they dumped AVB. He's fussy and in demand. Why the **** he would break his exile for us is another question entirely.... Those are the facts of the matter, you may not like or rate him, that's fine as your opinion, but don't make **** up. "Lumbered" I don't think so.
Fab addition to our coaching team and still one of the best passers of a football ive ever seen live in 40 years of watching football.
Well he was a good coach before hand and has spent some time in his academy perhaps looking at things he could bring forward into a senior level. I think it's very interesting appointment and hopefully a very good one, look forward to the results.
Who are the 26 clubs who offered him jobs? That is what he says himself with absolutely nothing to back it up. He also claims himself, that Levy wanted him back at Spurs when AVB left. The fact is, we employed him today and that is the first time he has worked at a football club since 2006. People claiming things don't make them facts. My opinion on him good or bad has nothing to do with the facts. He is with us because nobody else wanted him for the last 8 years.
I remember that game Stroller. Mid-eighties, back end of the season. They put 5 past us and he was magnificent that day. I think it was his last game for Spurs before he went to Monaco. Brilliant player. I remember too Bobby Robson getting panned for not playing him often enough for England when we got humiliated out of Euro 88. I think Robson's response was along the lines of "well I'd have to build my entire team around him". I would have done. For me he really was that good. As a coach? Why not? I thought his overall record as a manager was ok and was prematurely ditched by England. He couldn't have been worse than Keegan turned out and although Erikson did fairly well in his time I would have liked to have seen that generation of players approach the game with a bit more....oomph. We just seem so restrained under Sven. I did hear local stories about the show boating in training putting the players backs up at Wolves - whether true or just a rehash of the story in Stan's post above I couldn't say. And true he has been out of the game for a while. But I'd say definitely worth a punt. Kick out the jam bring back the style. Had to laugh at this comment on the F365 report:
