johnson is a decent defender, the two main issues he has are unrealted. the first is due to playing left full.. he's weaker i nthe tackle but thats filling in.. the gaol he flogged the other week is an example of that.

His main problem comes when he's expected to mark in the box off set pieces or when he's makring i nthe air at the back stick.... in the air.... bascially if a manager sticks him on the psot like he's supposed to be conventionally you'd eliminate 90% of glen's issues.... in other words he lets guys get runs on him way too much for set peices. I think at the back stick he is inclined to get under the ball and arbeloa did this too.

All in all he's quite a good player but should play right back to get the best out of him..... its enrique who should be getting stick

I disagree and think that he should remain at LB, someone suggested that he stays deeper for longer due to it not being his natural position and therefore is more solid defensivley. Whatever the reason he is always solid defensivley at LB and still great going forward.

I think Glen, along with other senior players such as Carra, Stevie and Pepe has a vital role in the next few years as being a mentor and example to the squillions of talented kids that Brendan is bringing through. as said, i'd make him vice captain now on the basis that, injuries apart, he's a first team regular whereas Carra isn't.

Whether that happens or not, I'm sure Brendan holds him up as a model pro to guide these youngsters.

He's ****ing awesome. Miles better than Kyle ****ing Walker.

It shows how thick most football supporters are in this country that they still rate Kyle Walker above him at the moment even though Glen is in the form of his life.

Best England defender at the Euros. That whole "He can't defend" whine is as dated as Smash potatoes.

Superb going forward. Not the best defender. Too many mistakes. We've had better right backs but he's hardly the worst player in our back 4 at the moment

I don't get where all this "rubbish" at defending comes from. Even at RB he's solid, of course he will be caught out a few times given that he's a modern defender.

At the euros he was England's best defender by far (I only recall one mistake) and showed composure in last ditch tackles, even from behind.

Going forward he is a very good runner and gets into fantastic positions, I'd like him to practice his shooting however as he can't ****ing keep his shots down (Reading doesn't count).

Enrique also gets unnecessary flak sometimes but he does get caught out more frequently than before.

Johnson's been on top form so far and based on this this season at least, his reputation for not being able to defend is completely unfounded. Reliable at the back and fantastic up and down the left flank. Really hope he keeps this form up.

Rarely have an issue with GJ these days whichever side he plays. Great to have the option of a full back with such flexibility. I agree with the post about him hanging back a tad more at left back but I wonder if that's partly because when Sterlings in front of him he doesn't need to provide the pace as much as if he was behind Downing. One of the senior players I rarely have an issue with. Not only a really solid player but one who obviously has worked very hard on his game over the years <ok>

Erickson, McLaren, Capello and now Hodgson all consider him England's best right back. I think his last ditch defending and covering for others are world class, he is always prone to a mistake or two.

I hope these so called 'pundits' can now see how much Glen has improved.
He is prone to the occasional error (aren't we all?) but he does look a lot more solid.

His threat going forward is extremely good as well and the lad can shoot and score goals.

Last couple of games he has improved. Poor start to the season at fault for at least 2 goals off top of my head. Maybe I've been too harsh on him. Playing in a back 5 with Reina well off form and Skrtel who is poor can't be easy. Needs to cut out the errors though.

Guy is great in attack, and i'm always confident when he has too defend, have no problems with him.

He has the confidence to take players on and too shoot where he see's a opportunities, something other players lack in our team.

How people say Walker is better than him must not watch football. In the Spurs/Chelsea game he was at fault for the fourth goal and plays with way too much cockiness for a player which really hasn't done much.

Did you see the bit he kicked the ball at Mata for no reason? Then Mata got revenge abd tackled him for the 4th goal as a big **** you to Walker <laugh>

Walker is a prick who's trying to get himself a reputation as some sort of no nonsense hard player but he's been destroyed by Mata and now he's been forced off twitter because some Spurs fans abused him <laugh>

Exactly, massive dick move to just boot it at Mata, the ball was either was going to bounce off of Mata back into the area or Mata would just jump over it and have a throw in, only reason to do it is just show your tough.
