I saw them last night and on Jools Holland and thought they were dogga, just a load of ****s prancing around to detract your attention from the formulaic music.
They might play one or two in the encore, but in the main setlist, no. The closest you'd get to it is Ceremony (which was a JD song that they never recorded, but was the first song NO released). If you want to hear people from Joy Division play loads of Joy Division songs, go watch Peter Hook and the Light.
Don't then? Nobody is forcing you... NO are still good. Not the same as their peak in the 80s, but still a fantastic band.
Saw em on telly few months back flogging their new product. Dad dancing and in fact dad performing. Are they really so desperate for the money? Has anyone got any Brasso? That legacy is tarnished.
Sigur Ros were good (on TV) and they were just on 6 music too Muse are like a 70s prog rock band half the time!
Switched over to the beeb to watch some glasto, and Alex Turner and Miles Kane were performing Moonage Daydream by Bowie. Was a good performance to be fair. Kane did a decent version of Ronson's guitar work. Nowhere near as good as Dave and Mick, but a good version nonetheless. Apparently Madness performed Kooks by Bowie earlier too. I notice that the Aladdin Sane lightning face paint is on the top of the Pyramid Stage...
PJ Harvey is on tomorrow night which is nice as I am not going to watch Germany beat Slovakia. No idea who else is on so will treat it all as a pleasant surprise, the Pixies would be nice, a bit of Orbital maybe, some Faith no More. No idea if these bands/artists are still going
Watched the first 15 mins of Adele, she's obviously a fantastic singer, but I'm just not that massively into her music. Don't know why actually, I'm a big fan of stuff like Amy Winehouse. New Order on now. Think I've just got epilepsy too. ****ing strobe lights!
After New Order's set, there is Philip Glass' "Heroes" Symphony performing. Any fans of Bowie out there, in particular his Berlin period, need to give them a listen.
Our lass has still got Adele on, will watch New Order after, a lot of bands are lost on the big festival stages though. To me JD/NO were better in small dark rooms, Hooky's Joy Division set was better at Fruit then his New Order set at City Hall. Music complete was a joy.
I was definitely pleasantly surprised at how good Music Complete was, it's definitely their best album since Technique. It's been a good performance so far. The new tunes sound great live IMO, Tutti Frutti in particular.
