He's a solid player, if he was on the radar you'd hope we would swoop quickly as there will be clubs after him. I'd expect him to be at a PL club, eg Norwich or Swansea next year. There are a fair few good players up there, Andy Driver, David Templeton, Joe Cardle and Johnny Russell are all good wide players that wouldn't cost much and would do a job.
The other clubs in the SPL will vote for Rangers to remain as it is the only time most of them fill their little stadiums when either of the Old Firm turn up. It's vital to their survival that the Rangers matchday revenue remains. Or so I read somewhere.
A recent survey showed a higher percentage of English wanted Scottish independence more than the Scots. Bit political but I hope we get shut of 'em once and for all and it shouldn't be just on their terms. They go they can join the Euro or start their own currency. Good luck with that in this current economic climate.
The debate is not so clear as there will be a fans backlash if Rangers are allowed to stay. Talks of boycotts have been mentioned. Surely they cannot allow them to remain
I'm pretty sure most clubs will actually want them in the SPL for the number of away fans they take to games
Very poor odds. That will mean that Hearts and Motherwell will be the main challengers to Celtic then ? Thats almost what James Harper was on at City, ffs. Get Aluko in now me thinks. Does that mean then that we shall need to take our Passports with us when we go up there ?
We don't have a good record with Scottish signings over the years apart from maybe Elliot and Cousin, I'd be worried that a lot of goals in Scotland = not that many in the Championship. Didn't Middlesborough get quite a few Jocks the other season like that Boyd chap and didn't do so well out of it? For every Cousin you get five Duffys/Hunters in my opinion
I like Scotland and had plenty of Scottish mates in the Army but I'm sick to the back teeth of the Scots bitching and moaning about how hard done by they are, when they're not. I'm off up to Perthshire for a week in August,I'll show my passport to the bloke who plays the bag pipes on the border and see what he says. I'll also ask him if he pays for prescriptions or for his kids to go to Uni. I could go on.
If the Scots got independence they would be the backwater of Europe, Ireland was asking for bailouts not so long ago so how would Scotland manage? The politician guy in charge is a two-faced arsehole aswell, anybody see him at the Queens Jubilee in London joining in the festivities? Typical two-faced power hungry political scumbag just like 95percent of the rest of them
maybe not, if Rangers go to Div 3 in Scotland, perhaps Celtic might prefer to join the english for some competition?
The other teams fans will shout and scream and insist they go to Div 3. The people who actually own everything and make the most money out of it all will want them in the SPL. Guess whose votes will count? Oh regarding independence, they've said they want to carry on using our £. Personally my view is, if they want independence, have it, lock stock and barrel, seems to me they want to keep all the good stuff and give nothing back. Don't know why we've carried the fookers for so long, we'd be well rid. Would clear out half of parliament of scottish MPs too. Lets see you finance free prescriptions and university education now tosspots.
Dear god no. Just because they've won the SPL and will win it for the next few years doesn't mean they're any good. They're lower half championship quality imo. And Scottish, so can fook off.
Not so clear cut. 3,000 Rangers fans twice a season at £12 a pop after VAT is c £72k Pretty sure by finishing a place higher in the league potentially is worth more than £72k
Also, the likes of Hearts and others will be eyeing up the place that Rangers have left. Thinking they can become a big player in the league, which would earn them a lot more than a few extra away tickets sold each season.
Without Rangers, the whole league and current system is in jeopardy. Whether clubs want them back or not, they will be pressured into accepting them back into the top flight by the SFA. The main income for the Scottish league is from Sky and ESPN. Sky only gave their investment on the condition they show every single Old Firm game. No Rangers means no Old Firm game and Sky will inevitably pull out. This gives ESPN to take complete control of all viewing rights, will they take it? Possibly. But at a much lower price is the probable outcome for two reasons, the games won't be as attractive on paper without Rangers and secondly because nobody else will compete against them for the rights if Sky pull out, meaning they can offer what they like for the rights. Less money offered on the next tender means less money for each of the remaining clubs in the league and the SFA. Less money puts more clubs in financial trouble and the domino effect begins. The SFA were very fortunate Sky basically saved them last time after Setanta went under. Regardless of clubs like Hearts now thinking they can get the Europa League/Champions league places or not, pressure from above will sway their decision. This all sounds very dramatic, but sadly true. Without either Rangers or Celtic, the Scottish league struggles to survive. If it comes down to a vote to let them back in, they will be voted in.... Probably! Hope all that makes sense.
