Terrific performance by Glamorgan again. See how frustrating it is following them?
Clearly, they set their stall out to win,and the plan worked - this time.
They play Yorkshire away today, and a win may just get them into the semi final.
The win eased the pain of Swans' losing.

Have to be honest, I lost interest in Glamorgan when they dumped on West Wales and became Cardiff based - not my team any longer and I couldn't care less if the team crashed and burned out of existence. Prior to this I was an avid follower. Watched 3 day and 1 day games all over the place often taking my late partner and all the kids. At the time, my work allowed me to attend whenever I chose, so midweek, frequently there might be just a few of dozen of us at the game.

We've watched them at St Helens, Sophia Gardens, Neath, Stradey, Ebbw Vale, Abergavenny and other places. Add the fact that Sky (how I hate them the money grabbing fcukers!!) also grabbed all the Test matches etc, cricket has now become a distant memory for me and I feel absolutely nothing for the game now. Must be thousands like me and my entire family lost to the sport in the name of "progress".

I have great sympathy for your point of view regarding Glamorgan and the way they have become Cardiff orientated,Ivor.
Long gone are the days when they took the sport to the many venues that you highlight, although Colwyn Bay has escaped the axe, thankfully.
Then the team was representing Wales,or at least I thought along those lines.
As a result of the Cardiff bias the Club have lost many members.
I don't watch them live nowadays, but still follow their progress,or lack of,as avidly as ever.I guess they are in my blood, just like The Swans'.
Most,if not all, of Glamorgans' conquests of touring teams took place at St. Helens, but that is only a shell of a venue now. All very sad.

I do believe several championship matches were played at Stradey Park,Llanelli,or Llanelly,as it was then known.

Vetch, one Sunday my partner 4 kids and I went to Stradey for a 1 day game against Leics, I think it was. It had been raining but the forecast was reasonable for the afternoon, so we took a big picnic basket full of goodies determined to enjoy the cricket.

The game started but there were fitful light showers. Eventually the players came off despite the fact that the rain had stopped and it was quite bright. We waited ages and then the game was called off. I saw one of the Glamorgan players on the way to the car and expressed our collective disappointment to him. He sympathised and said that the Glamorgan players were happy to carry on but David Gower, aided and abetted by the umpire, who I seem to remember was Dickie Bird, insisted that the ground (not the pitch) was unplayable. The Glamorgan player reckoned this was rubbish, more a case of Gower not wanting to get his dainty feet wet.

Of course, he had the ear of Bird (an ego the size of Wales) who had no intention of listening to anyone else. Obviously fancied an early day. I was disgusted by their attitude. There were lots of people there including many kids who had come out to enjoy a day's cricket and see their heroes. Gower and Bird between them didn't hesitate to let them all down, too precious to make the effort. I haven't liked either guy since. Rubbish attitude.

love the game but as been said we have to travel to cardiff (which is a great ground) to watch on a regular basis. I have seen them at many venues in the old days including llanelli and colwyn bay and we use to get a decent following. I particularly enjoy one day matches more than the 3 day games. It use to get boring when players like boycott would be at the crease for 5 hours and only score 30 odd runs. god he was slow but ideal as a night watchman..

"Boycott ... a nightwatchman". I'd like to be a fly on the wall if you called him that to his face,Dai.

I never warmed to Gower,Ivor, and as for Dickie Bird, well the less said the better.
If my memory serves me correct, the only century he ever scored for Yorkshire was against Glamorgan(the b*****d).
He was dropped for the next game, and never played for the first team again.

Compare that attitude as exhibited by Gower, with the Somerset team back in 1997,when Glamorgan were closing in on the title. It was raining heavily at Taunton, but Somerset stayed on the field. Glamorgan subsequently won the game and the title. You just have to love Somerset for that gesture. Sheer class.

"aggressive and malicious",more so than most of the nutters who frequent the football forums.
I remember us tussling with him on numerous occasions, and then he disappeared, clearly unable to deal with the responses he was generating.
    I don't recall "Snicko",however,but 101 was a real lunatic.
