Sorry but that's ridiculous. The home and away end thing is what makes the atmosphere, with each set of fans singing songs at each other and going mental together when we score. The American type of 'support' is cringeworthy and I'm guessing from your post that Australia is the same. No idea what you're on about. If you mean Happy or Dazed it was probably because they were being ****s again. I don't think I've insulted anyone else. Violence? Where?
Good idea Dan, let's have games such as West Ham vs Millwall or Sheff Utd vs Sheff Wed with no segregation... Jesus wept. No segregation = no proper atmosphere and more violence. So thanks, but no thanks.
Personally I really like chatting to opposing fans before and after matches whether they be home or away, and had some great times with Nottingham Forest and Derby fans over a few beers in the last 2-3 seasons at their respective grounds. Even had civilised chats with Stoke fans a few seasons ago at the Brittania. BUT I agree that during a match segregation is needed for the atmosphere and to prevent the small percentage of twats at any club intent on kicking off and causing trouble.
It's not as simple as that is it. The club has sold out for several games this season, and our highest attendance figure is about 24,500. This is in a ground that holds around 25,500. We're turning away fans because of the need for segregation, yet when away fans end up in the home end the same authorities that insist the world will end if we don't have around 4% of the ground closed for segregation decide that segregation isn't necessary. The club is potentially losing £400,000 a season in unsellable tickets due to police/steward incompetence. The least we should be getting for that is them actually doing what we're paying for.
