£5m come on now pud! You know we wont pay that. This name is leaked to try and make it look like they are trying -we'll end up with some out of contract player ala dion dublin/lassad etc...and the board will say Finboggason just was too much Seriously though we havent got a pot of £40m odd sat there. Income is down (yep lack of rangers twice per year) season ticket prices are reduced = less income. Less merchandising etc too looking at last years figures. So while yeah the CL made money its paid off the remaining debts and shortfall. But it will also be kept in the bank to consider the upcoming shortfall. Granted we've sold players and the wage bill slashed from last year with the players released -but we have already spent quite a bit. Not sure how much the 3 signings cost but you are looking at £6m odd. So we arent going to spend the same again on one player. Even if he improves would we be able to sell him for much more than we pay for him? (which is what the board will look for)
The club would rather attempt the cheap option; going down the Lassad/Miku/Brozek free transfer/loan deal scenario. The fans want someone like Finnbogason. I think we both know which is most likely to happen
I'm struggling to work out Celtic's lack of foresight here. If they don't actually qualify for Europe it will me a huge own goal.
You are spot on But the board must also realise that they need to sign a big name to kepp the fans interest there also. They wont continually pay up of the best players are sold and not replaced, every now and again
He is like an upgrade on Hooper, Hooper with a brain if you will, and for roughly the same money we got for that dullard its a no brainer. At 24, we could get 3 or 4 good years out of him and sell him for a nice profit, you certainly wouldnt lose on him. But lets be honest, Celtic arent in the market for quality players so I doubt it has any chance of happening. Again, I expect to see a total lack of ambition, someone should tell Liewell n co that spending a few quid on one player after years and years of doing excellent business is not going to jeopardize the future of the club. This kid is potentially the next Roy Makaay.
I think Celtic are guaranteed at least Europa League Group Stage now. Would be worrying if that was the height of the clubs ambition though. The club have alienated too many sections of the support in recent years for my liking. Fractious is how I'd describe the feeling between the fans and the club.
Here is what I wrote on Finnbogason on the Saints board last week: Link: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/222163-Summer-2013-Transfer-Rumour-Thread-Mk4?p=5139070&viewfull=1#post5139070 Finnbogason is your target man type of player. Technically he is solid, his first touch is good, he has the creativity to make ugly goals from out of nowhere. His speed is okay, nothing special. His positioning and agility are his selling points. He can wriggle himself around defenders and score goals that seem impossible. He is inconsistent and has great mentality, he's a fighter and always keeps going even when the rest of the team has already given up. There is one problem though, his finishing. I already had my doubts with him last season, he can score goals but the amount of chances he needs are astonishing. I think it's 1 in 4 major chances he scores. Last week when I was watching SC Heerenveen -AZ Alkmaar he got countless chances, I think like 13 or 14. He scored two, but he blew a couple of 100% goal scoring opportunities. Instead of 4-2 for Heerenveen, they should've won at least 6-2. That amount of chances he can get because defensively the Eredivisie is way below European par. And I doubt he will get the chances at Southampton in the EPL. He really wants to leave the club and I can see his agent forcing a move arranged by the club, but I don't think he'll chose for the Saints as he is more of the Bundesliga type of player. And there are many clubs in Germany that are eyeing him. And there you have it. For more updates on the Eredivisie, check out my blog or follow me on Twitter so you get a notification when I've posted updates, blogs or articles. Signing off, Cove
So what your saying is he should have scored about 90 goals last season? Glad he missed them then or we would have no chance of stealing him from under the nose of Real Madrid. If he can score 24 in Holland he would run a mock in Scotland, no striker takes every chance, even the best sometimes need 2 or 3 chances in a game to take one.
I said 'major' chances. Is in like in 100% scoring chances, open goals, tap ins, 1 on 1's etc. He could've scored way more than 24 easily
awrite a get ye noo, so most of his goals are not from easy chances? and he only takes 1 in 4 good chances, right am way ye noo. a bit like Kagawa stills seems like a bit of an exaggeration tho
Go check for yourself: 1m 32, 4m35, 5m18, 8m10 and there were a couple of more in the game. Sure he scored 2 and had an assist in the 4-2, but this was one of his best games for Heerenveen. This is him in top form. And I'm not saying he's bad, he just needs to work on his finishing, be more efficient.
Look....the bampot looks great oan you tube, so what the **** is Lawwell fannyin aboot fur? Get him boaght, ya walloper!
