Even the knobheads on a certain forum are having to eat their words about him, though of course they'll never admit it
Well I like how Giroud has been doing this season, but that stat means next to nothing in such a short space of time. He's been on form for 7 weeks, great! Lets hope he keeps it up.
'tis true - seven weeks isn't anywhere near enough to judge how his season will pan out. I don't buy into the notion of him being one of Europe's leading strikers for the same reason. It's smart to see how his game has progressed though.
That's a small sample for a meaningful stat, but then again I've been of the opinion that he's always been useful even when his conversion rate was poorer. Movement, hold up play, and his link-up with midfielders during the first half of the season last year was already showing great promise.
Should have buried that second chance after Wilshere picked him out with a brilliant pass. Probably the difference between a world class forward and Giroud.
Should have buried the first chance too, from Ozil's beauty of a chip. He didn't need to hit it first time, he had a ton of time to take a touch, but panicked.
I am not going to knock Giroud, I think he gives 100% most of the time, it is not just about goals with him. His link up play is excellent, how many assists has he had this season? If we had paid 25mill for him, I am sure people on here would have rated him highly.
I think he was a waste of money at £12 million, let alone £25 mil. And his link up play today was largely atrocious, he had 2 good moments, but aside from that he was cack.
It was a strange display today from the team always difficult to play away after a champions league game in midweek. Like I said, Giroud's work ethic pleases me, I was not really convinced last season, but he is winning me over. Tell me what is the difference between Soldado and Giroud?
1. Giroud was a lot cheaper 2. Soldado is a better finisher, but needs to be fed the ball 3. Giroud is bigger 4. Soldado has a bigger nose 5. Giroud could be a male model in his spare time. If anything, us and Spurs have the wrong strikers. They'd benefit from someone like Giroud, who can hold the ball up and bring players in, we'd benefit from a clinical finisher like Soldado, because we create the chances. Soldado would have scored at least 1 of Girouds chances today.
lol about the nose. Fair enough, I will agree with you that Giroud is probably not clinical enough in front of goal, the chances he missed today were half chances and nothing like the 2 missed by Anelka. I accept, we need another striker, at the moment Giroud is the best we have in that position.
In the Europey league. I'm willing to give him until January though, because he's getting no service at all currently, unlike our CF.
Would hardly call his link up play "atrocious" He had a big part in the goal today And he's scored 5 and assisted 2 in 9 games. He is involved in a goal every 1.28 games.
I think we really underestimate Giroud. He has not disappointed this season, against Napoli, he scored 1 and was instrumental in the other. I recall Rambo last season was maligned... I feel Giroud will carry on improving over the course of the season.
