Don't think anyone mentioned crisis? A few have mentioned how they'll struggle to mount a title challenge without a decent centre forward for half the season tho. Anyone think if Giroud is out til Christmas and no-one else comes in Arsenal will finish < 5 points off the top?

Looks like he's gone for half a season minimum. This will pose a great opportunity for the rest of our strikers to step up for the cf spot namely Walcott, Pod, Campbell and Sanogo. They have to step up!

Walcott is too small to play lone striker regularly, I'm sure there's some games where he'll play there. Podolski is awful at cf, doubt we'll see much of that

The fact Campbell can hardly even get a few minutes off the bench suggests Wenger doesn't rate him at the moment

S**t didn't realised Giroud broke his Tibia.
I thought it was just a metatarsal bone. This is such typical Arsenal luck.

We need to sign a striker sharpish. I'm highly doubtful it will happen though. We used to blame finances for Wengers lack of activity in these situations but its clear that's not the reason.

The problem is Wenger had a game plan when he signed Sanchez. I think he intendeds to use Sanchez against the big teams and away for teams that will come at us and Giroud at home or against the minnows who will sit back. The fact Giroud is injured doesn't change anything, he will just use Sanogo, Cambpell more than he inteded is all.

Well it does. It changes alot because we have already seen Sanogo is FAR less effective than Giroud. 22 goals and 11 assist last Season (and I would wager he would have bettered that this time round) Sanogo just isn't going to get us those kinds of numbers and that's a HUGE problem. (particularly when u look at the amount of goals City and Liverpool will score)

I said before that I believe a ....Sanchez--Giroud--Walcott is a potential title winning forward line because all three of those guys are capable of 20-25 goals a Season. Even if Giroud isn't 'Top Class' he may be just hardworking enough to succeed.

Sanchez is TOP class no doubt but we need a target man up front to make this system work. The thing that bugs me is Wenger will play with Sanchez upfront in the same formation despite the fact we no longer have that outlet due to Girouds size. There's no tactical adaptation and its one of the things that has let our side down over the last 8-10 years.

For me buying a Huntelarr/Benzema/Cavani would put us back in contention but without a true CF I just can't see us competing.

Sorry should have clarified that it doesn't change anything in Wengers eye. Personally I am all for getting another forward.

Watching Chelsea dismantle Everton makes me think.

You have to say Mourinho is a realist and Wenger is a romantic.

If Mourinho has an area that's weak he fixes the problem. No sentimentality, players don't have multiple chances to prove themselves.

Chelsea needed another striker so they brought in a world Class player in his peak (Costa) as well as an experienced second choice (and probably still a great impact sub) in Drogba. No f**ing around.. Ba and Lukaku didn't make the grade so out they go.

Wenger says we have lots of strikers:

We have lots of forwards its true.. but should Sanogo really be in our squad yet? He doesn't appear to have the kind of ability say Lukaku possesses.(a player who couldn't even make the Chelsea squad)

Sanogo - No EPL goals to his name. His first touch is poor and I've never seen him strike a ball with real confidence.
    Sanchez is a No. 10 or a WF - Not a striker.
Podolski is a No. 10 or WF - Not a striker.
Walcott - Wants to be a striker but in my opinion is best suited to the RWF position.
Campbell - 20 years old, no previous Premierleague experience. Can play down the middle but has spent most of his time on the wing.

Those that were speculating that Falcao to RM would open up Benzema, will probably up their speculations now. Falcao tweeted and deleted that he is now with RM. More than a few people capped their screens so it's not a Photoshop.
