No I would disagree. Much as I like the guy he just simply is'nt good enough in front of goal. His conversion rate is awful (around 1 goal in 10 shots) and the fact he is yet to score against ANY of the big sides says alot. He's a decent second choice but not good enough for a team who builds their whole style around attacking play.
Surely its about how the team perform rather than the individual? Would you prefer a striker that gets just ten goals but the team wins a trophy or a thirty goal a season man and you win nothing? RE; scoring against the big sides... Some would have you believe that applies to Suarez too although the figures are somewhat screwed. He hasn't scored against any of the current top four sides; however, one of those is us and we are still to play Man City and Chelsea for a second time. Therefore, its only four games so far and not the eight the original line would suggest. Of course, the figures are different if by big teams you include Everton, Tottenahm and Man Utd too, all part of the "big seven". (sorry for the off genteel spiel )
Giroud does deserve abuse, it's up to him to put the ball in the net, if he's not doing that, then he deserves to be slagged off.
how can you have one striker and expect him to perform in all your games. Arsene to blame, not Olivier
Maybe he does maybe he doesn't but as a professional you have to make sure you are doing the best both on and off the field to increase chances of success. That whole hotel room situation is about the time he started having problems on the field. But, yes it's down to Wenger, its simple, with injuries to main players (walcott, ramsey) we were a few away from the mess we're in now. Wenger didn't buy, the one he brought in has played 1 match so far.
Its not just about scoring against the big sides but to be honest Giroud has been poor in all the games that have really mattered. Not for lack of trying. Regardless we need to being in a TOP class striker this Summer.
When you really breakdown his season and look at his stats more closely, you can see that he isn't a top quality striker and certainly not good enough for a club with the ambition and size of Arsenal. In another post, I broke down his stats against the top sides and he has dreadful stats. Some fans opt for the blindly backing their players strategy, rather than taking the person for what he is.
