Now we've got bloody plastic birds to get hit in the face with for the Makems game. At the risk of being called negative why do the players need motivating by kids waving plastic birds around when the prize for staying up is £100 million plus, isn't that enough??

If the team plays well than these gimmicks shouldn't be needed to make the crowd happy/loud, but I'm not against them.
 
I always liked Grimsby's "Harry the Haddock" at a time when there was wire mesh in front of the terraces. Those at the front would position their "Harry" so it looked like the fish were caught up in a net <laugh>

To answer the OP - agreed, I do not really like them and see the point. Okay for the kids and adults with minds like kids I suppose.
 
Are flags (like, for example, the ones BVB and Liverpool were waving last night) 'gimmicks' as well?
 
To be honest. I really don't see the problem.

I like all this stuff. The clappers work. When I had a season ticket. I felt more draw to clap that, than I would to just clap for no reason! Also, The inflatable Canaries. Great. I love those last games of the season when we were already promoted or safe and all the beach balls were out and stuff. Makes it a party atmosphere. I think it will all help. People who don't clap or stand or do anything, are more likely to get involved if they have something in their hands to shake, clap, wave, stand up with. Anything to help the Jarrold and N&P get involved in a vital game.

If it's a gimmick, then I approve to be honest.

I wonder what the next gimmick will be? Apart from the inflatable Knobs I can only ask for 12 bore shotguns, so we can sit there and blow our fluffing brains out, that would be better than watching that crap and the desperation of the clappers!
