From what I've read, we have a bigger budget than what Northampton do despite the fact that little old Gillingham's ambitions are lower than JED's. In credit to him though he's never been relegated as manager and led us to our highest league finish in 10 years even though this should have been a lot higher if he hadn't of bottled his ideas.
Just a thought about the possible positive financial implications of this for Gills. It is fairly common practice that if a manager (or indeed other members of staff) have their contract terminated the settlement is not a lump sum payment of the remainder of the contract term but continued salary payments which continue until the end of the contract or until the employee finds a new job. If the latter is the case that'll be a few more quid in the kitty, possibly to spend on the salary of a loan player or two.
