Much praise to the whole squad against Tranmere....The performance was excellent.. I thought the game was fairly even until the Williams goal.... After this, Gills seemed to step up a gear, and in total control.... Going forward, we need to be more clinical - to turn forward play into genuine chances -which, I am sure will turn into many more goals. The actual commitment epitomised exactly what I have come to expect from 60 years of faithful 'support.'... There were moments early in the first half when I thought Tranmere were slightly on top, and good for a goal -- but-- the Gills players fully engaged with their tasks, and gradually began to create some attractive football (even if the goals didn't flood in. )...... ... Having been 'critical' of Ehmer, and not exactly rushing to put Williams in my starting eleven,, I thought both players were excellent...(that's for gioblues )..The commitment was 100% , and fully deserved the victory....... I would have no problem with utilising and rotating the players that graced the Priestfield pitch for the remaining games --- several of the games are against 'higher-placed' opposition - and can be used as a yardstick for what I hope is a Champion winning season in August.
