BRB - that last point RE: lack of availability at crosses. I noticed this too and it really bugged me. Tomlin and Kuffour are very similar sorts of players, intelligent and pacy. Therefore 9 times out of 10 they were making the same runs as each other! Adding this to Kedwell and the fact that he tended to drop off the play a lot and try and link up, meant that he was off the pace of the cross. Our midfield last night was the weak link. You simply cannot play a three man midfield and expect to be successful when two of them (I presume you can guess which two) go missing. Weston in the first half was anonymous, and Whelpdale....well he looked disinterested. Would love to see both Spiller and Charlie Lee back in the engine room, along with Jack Payne in there we could have such a passionate, committed midfield.
thanks for the write ups alwaysright & brb...most enjoyable to know others real takes on matches. weston seems to perform better after he's been dropped and then put back in to the team...which i would keep doing till the end of the season now, and think the same should be said of kedwell, who doesn't seem to make any difference with the armband on either! like sat-nav has stated...spiller & charlie lee are needed back in the side when they return and we need to set up either 4-4-2 or 4-1-3-2. gazza evans essam king jackman payne whelpdale c.lee spiller kuffour tomlin sub: flitney/hawkes, davies/framps/martin, weston, o.lee, kedwell. have seen comments this morning from hess saying, no phone calls regards loans for oli or lawrence and that he will also let davies, brown, brunt and rance go out as well. without a doubt, i would rather see callum davies given a chance from the bench for us and hope davies is only a loan and not released by gills...think he could be just as good as essam. thanks again for your takes
A very brief article for those interested...http://www.gillingham.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=273681 Does not go in to the player/tactic detail as spoken about on here but that is why we love the message boards.
