Why all the disrespect? This is something I really can't stand. In fact I think there's nothing lower that a fan can do. Nicky Southall was brought in as a coach! Not an assistant manager. Calling him a shadow is totally disrespectful and out of order. As for "SO CALLED STAFF" I think Hare is doing a fine job with the youth at the the club despite his heart issues and that really only leaves Hess, who I doubt you'll find another manager at any team in any league who has put the hours in that he has. Once again please take time to remember that another manager is no guarantee of success and that while Hess has faults aplenty so does every manager and every person.

I read people writing things that I feel are probably born out of frustration and hurt and disappointment but despite all that is it too difficult to afford some respect?

    Many thanks

I am happy to see someone else standing up for Hessenthaler, I think he needs more backing in my eyes he is the man for next season without a doubt and if Monday he was sacked I would disagree with what had been done, he is our manager and while he is our manager I will give him all my backing.

It's not a case of me sticking up for Hess more that I'm trying to keep a balance of good and bad because it hasn't all been bad , in fact it could be far worse. Yes it wasn't enough but it wasn't far off, again. I could let my ange, frustration and everything else negative that feel take over but that wouldn't be fair. Sometimes as a fan it is easy to be critical, especially at a time like this when we've come so close yet again, just 1 more positive result would have done it, which isn't far off. We've not really been destroyed score wise for a while and many defeats have been by a single goal. Even at the beginning of 2012 when we had that bad run, we were always close even when we played badly.

No it wasn't enough this year, I accept that but I don't feel it was as bad as everyone makes out. Disappointing, disheartening and infuriating as it was I feel it could have been so much worse.

    GeminiSwiftgfc - regarding gills,oxon4everandaday-
firstly I wish to remind you of my thoughts about Hess (as a Gills player) - I would have 11 of him in my team - his passion will not be beaten. but
I don't think g,x4e&aday was overly disrespectful.Sentiments were borne out of frustration which I share - that Hess wasted the chance to give a chance for Miller, Davies and King (who is a mile better than Frampton) to play against Morcambe. Kedwell could have been replaced before the game started. Montrose ! - I don't think he ralised that the warm applause as he left the pitch was actually for the introduction of Spiller.
Hess has somehow shown a lack of management skill in motivating the team - and neither has his captain shown that ability. Gills have been unfortunate with injuries - but they provided a fait accompli where Essam, Evans & King were used ( for a while. ) ( co-incidentally, whilst I wish Richards a full recovery, Gills have not let in too many goals during his enforced absence - and I have not missed his hoof ball game - although I have missed King's cultured defending and subsequent attack building)
This area of criticism of Hess relates to his tactics. There have been too many times when Hess could have used different, better players at his disposal - but yet kept with his 'chosen ones'. - and whilst on this subject - the other staff. Hare appears to have done a really good job with the youth team - well done. As for Southall ( that's who is meant by g,oxon4ever&aday ) I have to agree - Southall is NO coach -well, at least not a defensive coach - 62 goals conceded is poor. I don't know what Southall does during the week - but in pre match ( as well as during the 90 minutes ) he is anonymous - no coaching skills being displayed.
Hess = Great Gills player. Southall great Gills servant (as a player).
    Hess (as manager) avoidable shortcomings.
Southall ( as coach ) (politely) - No.

edit - thumbs down smiley should have been inserted at my first mention of Southall.......although some would say it should have been inserted up my ar*e

Hoadie - I had already accepted Gemini's point about being wrong on Vine's wages, just because I do not respond does not mean to say I have not acknowledge his point, I was merely just sitting back and letting people have their views but you chose to address me with further confirmation, so thank you.

You state it was pointless him sitting on the bench and yet to a later post showing your support for the manager (that very same manager who sat him on the bench?). He has not been good you state, what no better than Kedwell and you are basing that on what? (please do not say player of the season awards).

You believe that King is better than Framps (I agree), so again I ask who made those choices?

You state Miller should have been playing...again who made those choices?

Gemini - my point was...Hessy had every opportunity against Morecambe to try something different but he played for the three points that have no point (no pun intended), was this just to appease the fans?

If it was not than I am worried because despite two seasons of failure nothing changes. I am not a Hessy 'Out', however, failure is about recognising what went wrong and putting it right, so now we have the scenario...

Are we suggesting nothing went wrong so nothing needs to be put right accept a few minor changes and it in turn means carry on as normal. Which also means then there will not be much happening in the transfer window, because if it does it meant yesterday's game was just to appease the fans. Long goodbyes and all that stuff. That's my logic on it I am afraid.

At least one good thing was addressed yesterday or not so to speak, they did not bring on Birchall, because I will not hide and admit that I would have been straight in there with suggestions of marketing. I promise not to mention JM again this season- oh I just did but the season is over now - lol

Grumpy - you are correct on Morecambe's away record, I had not looked and that took me a bit by surprise how good they are away from home on paper.

could not of put it any better myself always, yes i was refering to senior staff...at least someone takes a step back to examing a view, i'm fed up with having to explain and justify what is so obviously plain to see and makes me no less a gills fan just because i want success like fans who see past the positives(yet so few) at the club.

this club needs to change matters, not stick with whats easy for hess and needs to happen now!

Unfortunately every manager is dammed if they do and dammed if they don't. Like I said earlier if Hess had changed things brought in youth and had won by miles people will have moaned, if they had lost people will have moaned, keep things the same and win or lose people moan because quite frankly it was too late. I feel that Hess went with what he did on a pride issue, go for the win have more points than last year and at the very least for him when he has his meeting with the chairman he can at the very least say there was a minor improvement but improvement all the same. I'm not saying that it is right or wrong but I can understand why he made his choice. Yes I am playing devils advocate, trying to be a ying to others yang's so to speak maybe just being a bit predantic but it's how I'm dealing with it. I do, however, strongly believe that a major overhaul is not required at this time. There will be comings and goings over the summer and it's we can all see what's needed, pacey wingers, quality centre back etc but finding them is a different kettle of fish especially in league 2.

Just to add the reason I believe that calling Trigger "shadow" is disrespectful is because I associate it wit KOL and some very disrespectful posts on there. As has been mentioned before Trigger has been a great servant to the club and the fans and deserves respect at the very least. Just because we don't know exactly what he does doesn't mean he does nothing. I agree he is not a defensive coach but neither is he an assistant manager or a goal keeping coach. In my mind there is no doubt that he has been doing things that are probably beyond him at this time but he is fairly new to coaching and still learning. I whole heartedly agree that there have been issues at the club with backroom staffing levels at the club and this is what I believe really needs to be addressed bringing in the right people to assist the ones already there. If at your job you feel over stretched would you rather be given more help or be fired?

Lastly, sorry but if I don't understand what something in someone's post I will generally question it for clarification and a better understanding of your point of view, if you wish to reply I am grateful if not well I'll just have to live in ignorance.

    Many thanks.
