Good And I've told Dave to remove, or make smaller, that massive toilet block in the middle which takes up too much good useable space
Wonder what acts we'll get at Zebedee's Yard this year. It's always been a good gig each time I've been.
Give us your best... I'm sure this subject was done recently, but always good to repeat fond memories. I'm grabbing this early because 20,000 of you'll be @ City's Friday match against Swansea and it's 50 years ) to the day on Friday that I (plus many others) attended the "Who Live & Leeds" concert in the LUU Student Union. ANYONE ELSE THERE THAT NIGHT ? Bloody brilliant it was , much like many a Sat night gig during the summer '65 to summer '72 time I was attending said gigs. I'm even in the "crowd" photo in the attached anniversary article - the good looking one obviously ! https://alumni.leeds.ac.uk/news/feb...696&trid=f1ca27b5-fbcb-4af2-bfcf-f692a8afe0f8 LUU was a favourite spot for many an established & future famous/successful band. Best 7 years of my life to be sure... Missed the "reprise" concert in 2006 @ the same venue, buit my mate in Leeds managed to get me the following magazine produced for that gig. The historical list of gigs is in an indication of many a happy/enjoyable night spent in my time ther (plus much joy for later generations of students). I have yet to publish the list I compiled for the years '64 to Feb '70. http://www.leeds.ac.uk/thewholiveatleeds/assets/TheWhoConcertBooklet.pdf .
Well that told me, you miserable bastard. Recently for old farts like me can be forgotten 2 minutes later. Ageist
I have to agree with you about Pink Floyd 1973. That was the best concert I'd been to until October 94 when we saw Pink Floyd at Earl's Court ! The 73 concert remains in a firm second place still though. Others - Procol Harum + Orchestra & choir London Palladium November 2018. Procol Harum just them May 2017 at Nottingham. Rick Wakeman with orchestra and choir at Cheltenham racecourse and Grimsby Auditorium and with his bad there too.. Home Service at the Old Hull Truck, The Strawbs at Hull City Hall in 73, OMD at Bonus Arena just recently and Lindisfarne here there and everywhere. Loads of other goodies over the years. However I must disagree with you too. The worst big gigs I ever saw were Roxy Music at Leeds Queens Hall and Bowie at Brid Spa. Each to their own eh !!??!!
Off to see Nick Cave in May in Leeds. Massively looking forward to it. Supported by Courtney Barnett as well, one of my faves. Isle of Wight festival in June too. Off for a week, finishing the holiday with the festival.
Don't know when it's getting announced, but I've heard Weller is going to be playing Bonus Arena in the near future. EDIT: ****ing hell, scratch that 'when', it's on the arena's site
Was at that gig, not bad worst was Van der Graaf Generator at UEA in 75 (amongst others) best, Robin Trower, Hull Uni in 75 and Michael Jackson, Bad Tour, Belgium 1988 (also amongst others)
That Paul Weller is coming to Hull, heard it on the wireless earlier... https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/whats-on/music-nightlife/paul-weller-jam-hull-tickets-3879555
Best thing about the Weller show - tickets come out on payday. Nice to have a gig announced when I definitely have enough money spare to buy a ticket for it
On his last tour he did That's Entertainment and for his encore, he did a medley of Jam stuff, Start, Precious and Town Called Malice.
My wife wentà to the Hull part of that gig at the City Hall - Pete Townsend reckoned it was actually better than the Leeds version. The Who Live at Hull CD was released a few years back and is excellent. Mrs Der Alte still has hearing problems after that night.
