I tend not to judge the morality of football players anymore as part of my analysis... They stopped being role-models shortly after my fifth birthday.... I stopped believing in Santa at ten <laugh>

Giggs was great, then he was an underrated cog in a team full of brighter lights, and now he's an old man, who admittedly can still put in a decent shift as a premier league player, but overall just reminds me of the old local saddo who hangs about five-a-side games looking for the chance of snapping any young twinkle toes in half. I honestly don't think he'd make our first eleven, or be one of the first subs off the bench (even for Pardew), which tells me everything I need to know about Man Utd. Personally, if we don't duff them at ours, I'll be disappointed.

Ahem... Half our Europa campaign involved little use of our actual first team players...

Long ball, with the shortest midfield in premier league history, was our downfall... The more we sunk, the more we hoofed...

Of course, players f***ing off for extended holidays didn't really help either.

    Cheers Hacky.
It looks like we too are suffering in the league with a very thin squad in the Europa.

It doesn't matter if you change things (we did early doors), first teamers have to play. Colo, Cisse, Tiote, Cabaye, Krul, Santon of the regulars all took part in the group games. Its the injuries you accumulate as a result of that. The single biggest factor though, and all the teams who play in Europe acknowledge this, is the lack of preparation time. That has a huge impact. The results then sap confidence and the dominoes begin to fall.

I had George Best as my role model; always seemed a wise option. My previous tax accountant must have had a previous Portsmouth manager as his role model though...

Loved the Besty story (if tru) about him lying on a bed in the top suite of a 5* hotel.... Cash everywhere and Miss World in bed next to him.... in walks a bell boy and says 'where did it all go wrong George'.

Players like Giggs win you the big games. Make up your analogies all you like, the guy has won the lot and still has drive to win more. He lost a bit of pace and changed his game, he's played in big games in CM, LW, AM, ST and LB. He finds the killer passes, the game changer through-ball that wins trophies. Might not be a perfect role model off the pitch but Joseph ****ing Barton is hardly the candidate to pull him up on that. When you get a spare couple of hours, go and watch the Class of 92, you might see how real winners are bred.

Giggs was a brilliant player. He is still a extremely important player at one of the best teams in Europe.

That is what football players get judged on. Many are not very nice people. Almost no one cares. Many poor football players are absolutely lovely blokes. Almost no one cares. If we were interested in moral character we'd be posting comments on some altruism website. We pretty much don't so we're on here. On here Giggs deserves all the praise he gets.

I agree. However there is no getting away from it, some fans do judge players on more than just football. They like players to be of good moral fibre and someone they can relate to. Stiffing your bros missus is not something many fans can relate to. I think what should be commended is the Man U PR machine. Look at how well they dealt with that hammer blow. The likes of Cole and Terry have been hated ever since their indiscretions, whereas Giggs booshing his bro's missus, which is lower than a snakes belly, is just swept under the carpet. Why can't we have that kind of PR team?

But of course, we are all forgetting the man we should be praising here. I do believe that it was Joe Kinnear who mentored Giggs throughout most of his career and is solely responsible for the successes he has had... ;)
