I've seen him play for 2 seasons in Portugal and i've seen him do things others in our team can only dream about doing. It's hard to think he lost it. Probably he was on a high wage and the gaffers had instructions not to play him.

I can guarantee though if he had been offered a lesser wage he would stay and play for the Mighty Tigers !!! Just NP dont want him.

The problem is though that Pearson likes to build his own team. If Ghilas wanted to stay here he would not only have to take a pay cut but also put in a lot of hard work to win Pearson over. As already mentioned in this thread, he seemed disinterested in pre-season which would have put the nail in the coffin for Pearson.

Maybe so but the only two left standing of OLD that still get played regularly are Dawson & Barmby. He's shipped off the rest who he did not want.

You've missed Garcia and McShane off that list who played from time to time last season as well. What all four of those players also have in common though is that they will work hard which is why Nigel has kept them. I'm pretty sure Nigel would also quite happily keep McShane if he was on £3,000 p/w compared to £20,000 p/w.

I said who play REGULAR. McShane has been out injured as has Garcia !!!

I think the reason he kept them is because they are YES MEN and dont disagree with anything said by NP

Garcia played regularly until he got injured last season, as did McShane until Chester arrived in January. Also, why would Nigel keep them just because they were "Yes Men"? That's a ludicrous reason! McShane and Garcia are both hard workers, and also decent players, that's why Pearson offered Garcia a new contract and also has happily included McShane in the first team squad.

Ashbee was playing every game until he handed in his transfer request. Tom Cairney is getting regular games, Deviit played a fair bit last season, Cullen got a good chance as did everyone at the start of the season, even Bullard who he hated.

The bottom line is NP only wants players who actually want to be here, which I agree with. Those who didn't want to stay have gone, NP is too professional not to play someone who would strengthen the team because he doesn't get on with them very much. He's not Phil Brown.

I don't think scoring 6 goals in the Portuguese League quite makes him good enough for PL, or even NPC football. Especially as that was the peak of his career 4 years ago and he's gone downhill since.

I can't believe people are criticising NP for the way he has gone about revitalising the squad full of absolute gash and replacing them with young, quality players. It's amazing the transformation he's achieved and he should be being praised for it!
