The stats are largely meaningless, as Kane tends to miss domestic cup games and the like, so it's not a straight comparison.
We rotate heavily for them, as we've got a lot of matches. Llorente can definitely do a job for us, especially against lower league sides, but we need to play to his strengths.
After he went off injured against Bournemouth last season, we then hit four goals in that match, then three against Swansea and three against Chelsea before he came on in that game, granted they're all second rate opposition but ten goals in his absence weren't too shabby. Although we did have Son for those games. No Kane, no Son and likely no Sissoko for a while, our three best players this season... gonna be fun times. Time to unleash the secret weapon:
I think that's partially to do with the opponents, as they tend to be weaker sides in cups, but there's also been periods in the league. At the end of last season when he got injured against Bournemouth is one example. 1-0 down when he went off, won 4-1, then beat Swansea 3-0 and Chelsea 3-1, though he came on at the death in that one. 10 goals in 3 games when he wasn't on the pitch is decent going. I don't think that putting six or seven past lower league sides indicates much, but it's a good sign that we can do it in his absence. We'll see whether that holds up in bigger games.
Yeah, DH has just quoted the same period. That is probably where I got the impression from cos tbf he isn't missing much.
This season he's missed the 2-2 with Watford, the 3-1 win at West Ham and the 2-0 win at Arsenal in the League Cup. He also missed the 2-0 win at Leicester in the league and the 7-0 win at Tranmere in the FA Cup. We've had no trouble scoring in those games, but they're largely against weakened or just plain weak opposition, barring the Leicester win.
And what a shower or ****e he turned out to be! Just goes to prove how easy it was to do what Arsenal did, back in those dim and distant days. It's today - the here and now - where it's tough, that Arsenal bottle it, and show their true colours.
