Lawro's verdict: Home win Liverpool 2 :1 Stoke.Liverpool v Stoke (1600)
This is a difficult one. In the league Reds boss Kenny Dalglish played with three centre-backs to combat Stoke's physical threat and Liverpool didn't really create any chances. I don't think Kenny will do that again.

It was Stevie G 3-0 Everton in midweek as they are saying but the win for Liverpool stopped the rot.

The relationship between Gerrard and striker Luis Suarez is improving and fellow forward Andy Carroll also had a good game. Jay Spearing playing in the midfield holding role also allows Gerrard to get forward and create and take chances.

Stoke are tough opponents though. They had to play with 10 men against Chelsea last week and it was only a late goal which saw them lose 1-0.

They are good at suffocating you and are just an obdurate side. They were beaten in the final last year and year-after-year they keep improving.

You've got to do the horrible things against them and if you don't they will punish you.

Lawro's prediction: 2-1
