Wooaaahh. You really have an inflated ego Cest. At no point in my article have I referenced you, so no apology owed or coming. Read what I wrote and remind yourself this forum does not completely revolve around you and your views - I am now a very occaisional poster essentially because the pervading negativity got to me, but I have never got into personal jibes on here - It is the very thing I am against and was what I was trying to write against in the original article. And as you often remind others this is a public forum in which anyone is entitled to a view, whether or not he considers himself or herself one of the 'names'
Your article is very personal though and aimed this 'certain people' vagueness. Pointing fingers in a general direction. You wrote it knowing it would provoke a response and isnt so much an opinion but rather a condemnation of those with different opinions to yours. If you dont like the negative chants and feelings at games say so but if you then start to condemn others for it expect a response mate. You got one here.
All those who directed personal, ugly abuse towards Bruce at the end of the game, and those who are negative towards the team during the game - both are just counter to my personal philosophy. This article was not aimed at anyone individually on here, but i stand by everything I said.
No but I saw a visible change in the players demeanours on the pitch when the people started singing bruce Out - Young Colback looked totally dejected when he heard it and Brown (who, remember, has never experienced a manager under pressure in his footballing life) couldn't do the natural thing and defend - it took a lot out of the players when the crowd started singing that - the last time (west brom game - the "Sacked in the morning" chants) it seemed to gee the players up and give them determination, this time it seemed to have the opposite effect - maybe becuase of the time of the game that had elapsed but the singing had a definite effect on the players which is how I came to that conclusion - I blame Bruce for us not winning the game - but I don't singularly blame him for us losing - sing your "Bruce Out" songs all you want but do it after the game not during
And mine too but they didnt cost us the game on Saturday did they, Did they buy the players? Pick the team? Choose to go one up front at home to the worst team in the land? No.
The nature of a forum is to assert a view and give other the opprotunity to respond to it - otherwise no forum. Sometimes subtley somethimes provocatively - you've done both in the past yourself. You have choosen to take it personally, in a 'if the cap fits wear it type of way' although you vehemently deny being one of those I was rallying against - which I'm happy to accept as true. Like you I have strong feelings post Saturday's match, and this was the way I choose to vent that frustration. No further explanation needed. Don't get so paranoid about this.
I think it all boils down to opinion lads. Some of you are going to say it's acceptable to hurl abuse at somebody who is essentially spoiling your fun, some are going to say that your morals come before anything else. Some people will regret what they did at the game, some will be intent on doing it again until the problem is solved. All I'll add to that is that we've been protesting at our "Yanks", for years now to no avail.
I am not calling you a racist or other. so dont jump to that conclusion. However, how can you say singling out a group of people for being "black" be immoral, but singling out a group of people for being fat be ok? I would hate to be in your world.
Thats all well and good, but the thing about passion is people show it in different ways and who are we to say that is right or wrong. We may not neccessarily agree with how people display passion, but we certainly are not in any position to criticise.
I wouldn't particularly like to have you in it either with your uncalled for Sunday school sermons about sod all.
You can be a Geordie and support Sunderland and thats not a problem. To be perfectly honest, growing up in the 60's and 70's EVERYONE from the NE were called Geordies and there wasnt a problem. Its only in the late 80's/90's and especially post Keegan and onwards, that the term Geordie was used solely for nufc and Mackems for SAFC and then the derision started. You are all missing my points about this completely. If you are a 'Geordie' and the manager of Sunderland and you are openly a mag as well, then thats a major issue for me when it comes to derby days and especially considering our results in them under Bruce. If you are a Geordie but a Sunderland fan its not an issue. Can no-one else see this? I wonder what reactions we would have had over in NE1, if someone born and bred in Silksworth, who openly admitted to being a dyed in the wool Sunderland fan, became the manager of the mags and lost his first derby 5-1? He would have been hunted down and driven out of town the very same day. We stuck by Bruce for another year but his results in between this have been a disaster. He has to go.[/QUOTE] We lost 5-1 cos we were ****e, not cos the bloke happens to be a Geordie or a scum fan. They beat us cos on the day they wanted it more than we did, our players were'nt up for it like they were. I was expecting big things from Cattermole on that day, he was ****e and never even turned up for it, gave the ball away and IMO cost us a couple of goals at least. That's got **** all to do with Bruce being a Geordie. I agree, he has to go for the sake of our club, even if we do avoid relegation under him, we're not moving forward as planned. He needs to be replaced ASAP. That said, personal abuse is out of order no matter what his wages are or how inept he is and before you say owt, i'm not acusing you or doing it either, but there were those that did and it's wrong. Shouting for his head is one thing, personally abusing him is wrong and it isn't doing us any favours in the eye's of any prospective manager thinking about taking us on.
No personal abuse, BUT look at SB's record in all competitions: Last season: Sat 14 Aug 10 to Sat 26 May 10 =Won 13 Drawn 11 LOST 17 Last season and this: Sat 14 Aug 10 to Sat 26 Nov 11 = Won 15 Drawn 16 LOST 24 The last year: Sat 27 Nov 10 to Sat 26 Nov 11 = won 10 Drawn 8 LOST 21 All games this year: Sat 01 Jan 11 to Sat 26 Nov 11 = Won 8 Drawn 7 LOST 18 This season: Sat 13 Aug 11 to Sat 26 Nov 11 = Won 2 Drawn 5 LOST 7 The record speaks for itself I think he has good intent, but he has lost the fans ( and they have been magnificent in their support and patience) and IMO he's also lost the plot. SB: time to resign
Interesting stats in the echo poll 44% want Bruce sacked immediately 55% want him to stay till the end of the season. Seems like the majority of us are still backing him to turn things around.
The vote got raided by several Mag forums mate. I looked at it earlier this afternoon and the vote was 91% in favour of SB going. When I looked at it at teatime, the vote had been reduced to 69%, because of mags voting on it. Pulled from Facebook earlier....... from @PremierLeagueCF Chris Ford twitter So I think it's fairly obvious that #nufc fans have now hijacked The Sunderland Echo's Bruce in/out poll. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/SunderlandAFC11 ....and if you want further evidence take a look at the comments at the bottom of this article..... http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/sunderland-afc/chris-young-column/bruce_out_give_us_your_verdict_1_4011324 I had trouble reading half of the iliterate ****e that was posted on there!
Bugger the mags and bugger this geordie/mackem nonsense. Bruce is finito IMHO and he should go. I don't care which version of "go" this entails, I just want him out. Our record under him is crap and he has had time and money to get it right. He has demonstrated bugger all tactical nous and his man-management has to be questioned if (a) he can't keep our star strikers and (b) the team bottle it when put under pressure. I have wanted him out since Norwich when we were so inept it was embarrassing.
The legality of it does not matter in my book, in some countries its legal to have sex with 12 year olds, that does not mean its right. As for the moralality of it well that comes down to your own opinion but I think its all unacceptable. Half my family are geordies and support Newcastle are they scum then?? I agree its time for Bruce to go but it has nothing to do with his appearance, where he was born or even which football team he supports.
I would think a large number of Sunderland fans on this board would find that offensive, as they will have relatives who you seem to class as "scum".
