We have the 7th largest worldwide fanbase in England despite being out of the PL and are currently 5th, so I'd say that checks off both my points.
A huge club, yet you're in the same division as Bristol City? You're not a big club any more and you can't use your fan base as a point as you get lower attendances than us.
Last month there was new report published on worldwide fanbases, the results.... 1. Man United 2. Barcelona 3. Real Madrid 4. Chelsea 5. Arsenal 6. AC Milan 7. Liverpool 8. Inter Milan 9. Bayern Munich 10. Juventus 11. Man City 12. Spurs 13. Newcastle Unfortunately you didn't make the list and I've absolutely no idea why they decided to randomly publish a list of the top thirteen.
how come your attendance was over 5000 down on your last game, i thought you would have sold out now that your messiah has returned
And how else do you consider what is a big club if not for the fanbase. The Stadium, we have Elland Road which is an awesome big capacity stadium. The training ground/facilities, famously Thorp Arch is one of the best training grounds in England, if not the world. I dont know how Andy King can deny that we are a big club
Simon said we have the 7th biggest worldwide fanbase in England. Technically he's wrong since the report he was referring to said we have the 7th biggest nationwide fanbase in the UK. That doesn't therefore include all our foreign fans who I'd say outnumber those from Tottenham, Newcastle and Chelsea. Our website gets the 4th most hits of any English football club (after scum, Liverpool and Arsenal, so I think that's a fair precedent for our worldwide fanbase as opposed to our one which is merely in the UK). Josh/ACKJ, the only way you can judge the size of a club is fanbase. How else does large or small come into anything? The idea of proportion has nothing to do with history, divisional status or whatever. That is the quality of a club rather than the size of it. And yes, admittedly players look for clubs of both quality and size. But I think if Bates left the club, Leeds United would be a coveted proposition for any player. Shame he's ruined the quality of our club with his transfer policy. But he'll never lessen the size of it.
Yea i agree that is the only way to measure a fanbase, i saying it rather sarcastically which doesnt always seem to work as well in a forum environment but its so much to do with the way i talk so sometimes i forget that....
I got you, don't worry! Just addressing you and ACJK because I know that was the subject you were discussing.
ah k, just making sure. Back to the maynard question though. Do you think they will sell him in Jan or let him leave for free, we did it with beckford when most said we were crazy. They already declined some pretty good bids from Leicester particularly in the summer so why would they all of a sudden accept now.
Because before the summer Bristol C thought they could go for promotion and now they realize they'll need all the cash they can get since they're firm relegation candidates? No idea what their club will do or whether they'd make decent money off him, your guess is as good as mine!
If we really needed the money, then we would have sold in Jan to Leicester who made a £7m bid for him, i think thats enough evidence that we will not sell for the money, we will sell if the player wants to leave. I also do not think that we will be in a relegation battle as the new manager has come in and seems to have got the team playing football again. If Maynard did not want to join Leicester, then there is no way he will join Leeds, i mean, why would he? Leeds may have a larger fanbase than a lot of clubs in the CC and in the Prem, but you can not shy away from the fact that you are a average CC team that is currently batting above your weight in this division. Personally, i would love to see Maynard sign a new contract, but the longer it goes on and the more goals he scores, then the less lightly he is going to sign. If he does sign for another CC club, which im pretty sure he doesnt want to do, then it will be a club closer to home, and i would love to see him sign for the Saints, with him and Lambert up front, that would be pretty special!
Oh shut up ya bel l end - An average championship side usually means a team that is sat in an average position. Hence the 7th place finish last year and currently sat in a playoff spot doesnt usually mean average does it dip sh-it? You hit the nail on the head with the fan base! so why wouldnt he come to a club with a bigger fan base with bigger ambitions! And that just about proves my point with your centre mid dynamo Neil Kilkenny! who incidentally isnt a patch on Adam Clayton! Honestly your opinion is dross!
