I'll agree with you, RE the cup winners cups but if you are seriously contesting that the european super cup is a creditable european trophy then you are clutching at straws. The european super cup is little more then a friendly match created by a dutch jounalist that clogs up a busy fixture schedule.

What a load of nonsense. Liverpool have a great fan base but have a fair few glory hunters themselves so I wouldn't push that point too much.
The super cup is clearly not on par with 'proper' euro trophies but we had to beat Real Madrid, European champions to win it so its better than a kick in the nuts!!
Yes we also have glory hunting fans, still does not mean its OK for them or you to spout ****e about the game. Real fans know there is no glory in winning the super cup, the glory comes from what you have to do to qualify. Do you also count the emirates cup as a proper trophy?
It was a joke, based on the fact those European trophies are about as valuable as the charity shield. Real Madrid weren't even the best team in Madrid back then, so it really is different to the Real Madrid of the 50s or today.

All they have to do with the ESCup is to tack on 20m for the winner, the WC championship game, tack on 40m for that one and flog the TV rights it wil be a big game any club will want to win, and it also becomes an important game that will be seriously contested.
While there is merit to the above look at United, they did not have the strongest squad by a mile last season and had some important players out through injury for long enough and had the manager banned from the touchline and had oldies too. So what we can gleam from that is the team was greater than the sum of its individuals thanks to Fergie. Look where it got them, they hung in there when it looked lost, yet again.. What we can learn from that is that Kenny is doing the very thing that is needed, he is building a team where there will be no egos and a hard working ethic. Working together over and over training playing ect the understanding is added, intuitive movement and anything else has to rest upon a great team work ethic. I have watched the CL final a few times now, and one team had a fantastic team ethic and the other didn't. One team worked very hard in cohesion, concentration was excellent for the whole game, the other pressed and sat off at the same time ( worst thing you can do against a passing team) that is obviously the team not acting as one, there was obvious dissent from a certain player, after his antics during the season that was an awful add for himself considering how many kids wear an England shirt with his name on it. I would like to think that nay instance of that would lead to the players exit at Liverpool, I do not want an experienced international in our team being told in the biggest club game of the season, to Pull up their socks and fkn work, like a child. Where are we on leaders? Carra and Stevie, but going forward, I am not a fan of the keeper being a captain, communication is an issue and if a keper is doing that he aint concentrating 100% on keeping. What ****e did I spout?? I dared question Gerrard's comments about winning the league when you didn't even qualify for Europe. Liverpool will be better this year but I maintain that you should concentrate on getting back into the top 4 first. No one wins the league without being in the top 2-3 the year before anymore. Chelsea's European pedigree was then attacked which is irrelevant to the debate. Like you, I will defend my clubs history even if it isn't as spectacular as other clubs. And I started going to Chelsea in the 80's. I have my father to thank for that punishment. Hardly a glory hunter.
When we beat them in the cup winners cup final they had just finished 4 points off the top of the table in Spain (same as this year) and they were european champions when we beat them in the super cup. They were not a bad side by any stretch.
Erm....remember this Nowt wrong with the old CW cup but to claim the super cup as a european trophy is just laughable.
Lovely- I'm an antique! I'll just go and give myself a bit of a polish Chelsea- nobody blames you for sticking up for your team. It's just that we don't really count one-off showcase trophies like the Charity Shield, Super Cup etc., as major trophies. Who you play is largely irrelevant because no-one cares enough to make it truly competetive.
