Would the Hammers Spurs or Southampton sign him? I think if it happens taking Johnson as well must be part of the deal
I think if, this time, thugs don't break into his house and threaten to kill him and his family if he does leave the club, he will go. He will see just how well his mate, Frank Lampo is doing at £ity, coining in the shekels for playing half a game, and he will think to himself, "**** me! I'm missing out on this!" But, as I say, I think it will all come down to whether or not he's threatened with his life, as to whether or not he will stay at 'Pool. From 'Pool's perspective, surely it's time for the club to move on? There's no denying that Slippy has been a fantastic player for you over his career, but he's nowhere near that player, now.
Thanks for the memories Steve, but it's time for you to go. Nothing more than an expensive passenger at the moment. Oh, and please take Johnson with you where ever you end up going.
Look at you, all pumped up because you can continue your love in with Piskie on the Arsenal board. Even the Spuds board doesn't want you How long before you are rebanned from everywhere. Shouldn't you be in the office atm working on lego legal stuff? please log in to view this image
I'd imagine the US would be the place to go at his age. Couldn't see his legs carrying him at Stoke or the like
He gives me the impression that he feels like he's got a season or 2 left in him at the highest level, so whilst I wouldn't be shocked if he went to the States, I'd also not be surprised if his agent spoke to PL clubs as well, as it's obvious that the money being talked about at Liverpool isn't where they see his worth
I can't see any top PL sides come in for him given how he's performed for us this year so don't think he'll be given a chance to ign for a rival. It'll be staying with us, igning for a mid table prem club or try and find a team abroad. My head says his agent will be doing some digging over the next month or so and if nothing suitable he'll sign a new contract with us.
I can see City going for him and using him how Brendan should be using him - late game impact player or cup ties. He still has quality passing and vision and if you bring him on in a forward position with 30mins to go, he'll make things happen. Lampard's getting them important goals because he's being managed well. Gerrard's getting bashed here (and his performances are dire) but because he isn't being managed well.
I make you right there, that scenario is definitely possible especially given their positive experience with Lampard this season
The only PL club that would interested would be Citeh, based on the fact they need the homegrown players and can afford silly wages for someone who barely plays. Whilst the Lampard transfer, which is even more ****ed up as of today, set a dangerous loophole for clubs like Citeh to bypass FFP. However with Stevie I get the feeling he'll want more than what Lampard is getting in terms of game time so is likely to either sign an extension or look to mainland Europe possibly somewhere like Italy.
he wont leave, i am calling it now. if the club doesnt offer him a contract then i think he will retire and work at morrisons to support the wife and kids
I don't think he'll be too worried about that just yet.I don't even think money is the priority. BUT the chance of winning a PL title will be his driving motivation IF he leaves. Then after that he can go off to the States and make money before he retires. In short, he can think about game time and money a couple of years from now, not just yet.
Same thing today. Lampard comes on 70mins and grabs a late and important winner for City. Gerrard plays the whole game and doesn't help the midfield at all.
