The Germans went through a short rebuilding period and have come back as strong as ever. I'd like to see us do the same by the next World Cup.

Back to my original question though. Why on earth are the matches scheduled in the way they are thereby giving one team in either semi-final 2 extra days rest?

And the great thing is, with Roy, I can see that happening. I'm a little excited, not felt that way for England for quite some time.

This could so easily have been rectified by playing the German game as they did and then playing the game from which there next opponent plays next. Likewise for the final two semis.

You rarely associate the Germans with style and flair, but my gosh they have it. The way they make the pitch big is great to watch.

We will never have a team like Germany, they have so many class youngsters ready to step up into which is a already young squad. The Germans changed their whole league rules to get the national team to the standard it is, restriction on the number of foreigners, clubs have to a up to standard academy etc.

The Prem will never be like this, it's to money driven so welcomes as many big stars as it can.

When the Premier League was first talked about one of the justifications for it was that it would help the England team. Everyone in the real world knew that was garbage and that it was just about money.

I agree. We could do a lot worse than emulate the Germans. That said, I have faith in Roy Hodgson to do just that. This is the beginning.
