The costume drama: another great British institution. Forget the fact that the upper classes who owned the big estates treated working class people worse than animals. As long as it's nice and comfy and middle-class and perfect Sunday night viewing we can sit there with our Union Flag proudly displayed outside our modest houses and reminisce about how "Great" Britain used to be! It brings a tear to your eye so it does.
