Even though i am a big fan of can, i can not see him walking back into the the team, If he comes back in,he would take hendos position, which means hendo would take winis position, which may mean lalla has to be moved, Why would you do a big reshuffle just to accommodate one player, who although good, does he warrant the entire of our midfield shuffling about to get him in. Just a thought.
General consensus is that Can walks easily back into the midfield. Our best players should come straight into the team, with little resistance - and he is one of them. Gez agrees whole heartedly.
Joking aside, I do think Can comes straight into the team and is arguably Klopp's second favourite player after Firmino. He gives the defence more protection and he would allow Hendo/Gini/Lallana more freedom. All in all, I think he gives us better balance. For how well we have played recently, we are still conceding silly goals.
I don't want anyone just to walk back in.. there needs to be a valid reason.. right now that midfield 3 is working why change for the sake of it? If Can was Gerrard then yes, if not, is a no from me.. And I'm a big Can fan
If focusing on Can then it's hard to argue (although I'm pretty sure I could find a way ) but it's not all about Can. I think it would be incredibly harsh to drop anyone of the current XI. No doubt someone will get dropped though with Firmino (first name on team sheet imo) having to come back in. I honestly could say which three Klopp picks to go up top or in midfield.
I think he's a better player than Hendo but with the latter in form he should keep his place. Can must wait for his chance
not sure he does tbh. Whilst still conceding stupid goals in general we have looked more secure so far but is that because of the work in pre season ? like other posters i think he might need to wait to get back in and that is a sign of an improvement in performance as last year you wouldn't have said the same as if available he played. Should point out i'm not quite so sold on Can as a lot of you .
I wouldn't expect to see Can walk straight back into a starting place in the PL whilst the incumbents are playing so well. He'd start on the bench imo, unless someone was injured of course. However, depending on his fitness, he might get a go tomorrow and it would depend on the impact he makes. In the areas where we are weak, I don't think he massively improves on those already there and I'm a big fan of continuity whenever it's possible.
For me we have a small bit of competition here and i really don't give a toss which of the 4 CMs being talked on play in the 3 if it forces whoever is playing to play at 100% every week and the same goes for the 4/5 guys fighting for 3 spots up front. If they have this competition its all good for me.. but then thus far Can has not been fit to get a game really has he? Sturrdige has whined when not getting on. Origi and ings have not. Add in the 3 who have started most here and thats genuine competition.... and we've seen a few goals come out of this competition already. The same should be said of the goalkeepers hopefully. The only position not in this scenario is RB currently? Karius Clyne Matip Lovern Milner Lallana Henderson Wijnaldum Mane Firmino Coutinho then mingolet, moreno, can, klavan, sturridge and origi are fighting just to get a game.. and then theres the usual cult heros like gruijic and ings who are not getting a look in. As far as I'm concerned they should be under pressure to keep the intensity up each week.
For the record, I do like a meritocracy where players in form keep their spot. I'm just going off of Klopp's reliance on Can Last season which would suggest that he is a big part of his plans in midfield.
This assumption that Karius replaces Migs may be premature. 1. There has been an improvement in his control of his box ,though still far from perfect 2. his footwork has also improved though still needs better understanding of when to play short or just hoof it 3. Most importantly 99% of us haven't seen Karius play 90 mins of competitive football. and yes i get the idea that Klopp signed him as a replacement but we need to wait and see
yeah but last year the competition was mighty Joe and a clearly struggling Hendo neither of which now apply
Mings has improved (great we have competition all over the field finally) and he is clearly putting in the effort but I do think we will see Karius tom night
