I remember George being the first player I had ever seen dummying the keeper. In front of the Fulwell End, he had his back to the keeper, the ball came to his feet he stepped over it and ran around the keeper the other way and had a tap in with the keeper well and truly mugged. Needless to say as ten year olds, we were trying to copy it on every bit of grass we could find after that.
One of my all time favourites, loved him , Spent many nights in the queue in the Fry Fry behind him , thanks for the memories George, and Maurice Pegg. Happy days PS I was also on the pitch when he was sent off at Hull in that infamous replay . made 1973 all the sweeter.
From memory, we nicked George from under N/C's nose. They actualy anounced that they had signed him, but we got him. For those of us brought up on Shack, he was a reminder of what ball control meant. Nothing but good memories about him. A pleasure to watch, always. RIP and thank you.
