I have just been shopping in Sunderland and bumped into George. He recognised me from going to away matches with SAFCSA over 40 years ago when I was still at school. The man is a legend, he is 93 and still independent. Doesn't go to games as much now, this man personifies our fans. How anybody can say that we are where we are because of our fans when we have people like George who gave up decades of his free time organising away travel and running club shops beats me. Disgrace that we are in the mess we are now for people like George. Asked him his all time favourite player: Bobby Gurney. Made my day meeting him.

He was at the Coventry match as I saw him sitting in the front row of the exec seats in the West Stand right next to access 4.

He mentioned going to a recent game and having a meal beforehand, maybe the club is recognising his sterling work for them.
