I have been wondering what would happen if we went the other way and withdrew all police off the streets and just let these "peaceful" protesters get on with it.

Would be interesting to see who got the blame for any looting or destruction then

If you think about it, that's all we did with football matches, when the police were replaced by stewards. Hence the police no longer become the target to hate, stewards do instead.

 

A lot of people fuming on social media about a statue of a slave trader being wanged into the sea.

 

I’ve no issue with that. Couldn’t care any less tbh. I’ve seen somebody say when you erase the memories of history then you allow the same mistakes to be repeated. I kind of got that.
