Charges now increased to 2nd degree for killer cop, and other three cops also to be charged, no detail on what charges yet.
2nd degree is intentional murder but not premeditated, which carries a sentence of 40 years. 3rd degree only carried 25 in that state.

Discussion on CNN, I don't know if the guy is a legal expert, but says, he understands that 'intent' is what the public want, but it will be harder to prove to a Jury. However, if the Jury, don't find guilty on a second degree murder, they could still find the accused of 3rd degree, so it's not an all or nothing. The 3 other cops have or will be charged with aiding and abetting murder. Charges above is according to court records as seen by CNN journalists.
My guess it's come about because of public pressure, there was clear intent imho in that video evidence. I really don't know what part of 'I can't breath' that the cop couldn't understand. I said it early on in this thread, that cop went beyond the point of no return. So it certainly is a correct charge, and he is going to have to pay the consequences of his actions.
