Three very salient points mate. It matters not the reason or colour/race involved there will always be a portion of society to see these as a good reason to turn out. Shame really because some very relevant protests have been ruined by said portion.
There were a lot of peaceful protests today as well. The 'Stand Up To Racism' which included many BLM folk, from Newcastle to Brighton (and even in London). They still form the vast majority of protesters mate. I'd like to think the media narrative will focus on this because it's a worthy cause and still quite strong. That doesn't mean we shouldn't be reporting the thugs committing violence or even vandalism, but the idea that somehow this has derailed the protest is something we will drive or allow the media to drive.
I'll be on on Monday...got a day off... Got ****ing loads, i mean ****ing loads. People need to wake the **** up.. I could say a few words here... But i'll keep them for Monday.. Let's just let the peaceful BLM enjoy their weekend, as they are all so nice people, and like a peaceful protest.

In my opinion the cause was lost last week. Most people were on board with the protests until they started ripping down statues and attacking monuments. This was a stupid and petty thing to do. let me explain what i mean by this. People are trying to change a situation now, they cannot change what happened 300 years ago or in another country so they should focus on the realities of today and many others would agree with their views and join them. Unfortunately "woke" whites got involved and pushed the agenda (who pulled down a statue that almost nobody knew who it was of). I would happily attend and stand shoulder to shoulder with anyone wanting equality (racial/gender or sexuality) but have no time for those that want to use history as an excuse to cause chaos today. If you want change, change the now and stop trying to use the past as an excuse for anarchy.

I can understand all of that. I'd even agree the intelligent protesters will target where they can effect change rather than being driven by wasted emotion. The question is though, what's the alternative? Just forget about it all because people think it's been lost? How **** would that be. Like I said there were lots of mass protests. Plenty of woke whites as well all rallying peacefully. I could post pictures for effect but you've probably seen them. These are people you could stand shoulder to shoulder with (Covid 19 permitting).

Yeh you're right that's the lead story, which doesn't reflect the whole picture. But add to that the whole page is full of "clashes" and "violence" and "thuggery". Like that's all that happened all day
My point was, the past has happened and gone. People should strive to change the now not feel angry about something they can't change. History is all there for people who want to look at it, nothing is hidden and this should be obvious by the posts on here and the anger of some protesters. Seriously, how many statues do you pass in a week and know the full history of the person depicted? statues (to me at least) are street furniture and often i recognise the names on the plaques but sometimes don't so may look them up. Again, they are largely from the past and have little bearing on today so should have no part in the problems we have in modern times, we need to sort the now not the then.
Spoke to my big sister (so she is older than me and i am 62 next month) about this for the first time last week, i had never heard the phrase "all lives matter" before when that thought hit me, she doesn't do internet forums but the first thing she said was "every life matters". Racist pair of ****ers me and my sis.
