Depends on who they are covering, most music past and present was/is pish, so it doesn't leave much left. That Peter Green documentary they had on a few months back was ****ing brilliant.
I enjoy most of them regardless of artist, genre etc. I find the development and cultural impact of music interesting. I even enjoyed the one on the history of rap/hip hop even though the only way I wouldn listen to it is if you put a gun to my head.
I prefer the ones where the featured artist/artists had to rough it for years before breaking through to the big time, these days it seems most are made stars overnight. Bloody Pop Idol and it's ilk have made it far too easy for any average Joe to become big stars.
Seen summat on the telly the other night about music in the 70's. That era was awash with middle of the road garbage and twee pop ditties. What happened? The backlash that was punk rock, which led to a new era of original and inventive music. One can only hope that there will be a backlash against all this reality show manufactured pop music.
I hope your right your Gambolness, although i were a little young for the punk era, things certainly need shaking up in the music industry.
We can only hope, too, for a backlash against the mindless reality driven garbage we get on the telly, not to mention the attendant "celebrity" culture. No holding ma breath, though.
Dunno. I stumbled on it after watching the Olympic closing ceremony before going to bed. Canny remember what channel it was on. I like to have a wee channel surf with a ciggie before retiring for the night.
Odd how you can stumble on something to watch when what you really want to do is got to bed. Next minute it's 3 in the morning and yer raging cos you have to get up for work.
Bugger the tele, (not literally either ST). Just gie us my Laurel and Hardy boxset and i'm set for an evening or two's proper entertainment.
That and confusing the names of my neices and nephews. They look at me like am a ******. Makes me want to punch them.
But is most of it music Gas?, i ****ed about with a dance music computer program a few years back, and when i played the result to my youngest brother (he's into that ****e) he thought it was good and asked who it was. Imagine his surprise when i told him i knocked it up in about ten minutes.
