There is also a lot pressure on strikers at a club like Liverpool compared to chelsea.

Sturridge should do well at Licerpool, where he is not surrounded by fewer egos bigger than his and he gets the star treatment he craves
 
Sturridge needs to have a full good season before this debate can continue.

The fact is, Sturridge is a different player to anything we saw at Chelsea or even City. He now plays for the team rather than himself, he gets his head up and looks for a strike partner rather than his shoot on site policy he developed at Chelsea. He's definitely matured and that's largely down to Rodgers and his no-nonsense approach to football.

What Liverpool offer which neither Chelsea or City could is a more homely environment and managerial stability. Sturridge never had that at Chelsea and that undoubtedly hindered him.

Also with all due respect to Liverpool, teams will always fancy their chances against them and be more open (away from Anfield anyway), this means Sturridge will get far more space to operate than he would at Chelsea (look at Hazard now being double/triple marked out of games).

I'm still unconvinced Sturridge is good enough to play CF at the top level. With Coutinho just behind him and/or Suarez alongside him he looks a class act, but without them he doesn't seem at all convincing.

Jury is still out but he's a talented player and I wish him all the best at Liverpool.
 
Didn't like Sturridge at Chelsea, but can't fault his Liverpool form. Maybe Brendon Rogers is simply a better man manager than our last 9 or 10. Also don't agree with this "strikers tracking back" bullshit, that's what your DM and back 4 are there for. The strikers can't score when they're 50 metres from the goal "tracking back".
Lukaku should be in our squad learning and improving, not helping Everton rack up points.
Jose has a big job with us, we look unbalanced, overstocked in some positions, understocked in others, and misfiring badly.
Great believer in the oldest truism about football, when it's bad on the pitch, it's bad off the pitch.
Something is not right between Jose and the squad, he needs to sort it ,and quickly.
His latest dummy spit with the Press shows he's feeling the pressure. I think the holiday is over and the work starts now. Some good old fashioned compromise would be a good start.

Talentedish player but so far up his own arse its not true, Chelsea were too big for him. Thinks he is better than Drogba can't pass and is not a team player. Give it time you'll be begging people to take him off your hands. Another SWP should be a success at a smaller club or in the championship. <ok>

People have given good rational responses to this thread and then you come along <doh>

Clearly not seen Liverpool play since he signed. He's a very good team player now, the selfishness he once had has gone.

Have you seen him play for Liverpool?



P.S. Lakuku just scored - I still think he's your best striker, and can't understand this 2nd loan spell. But I'm clearly no manager, just an 'armchair manager' <ok>
