Not sure English ice hockey had quite the same “blood and thunder” as US Pro Hockey, but I think you’ll enjoy it. Unlike the guy sat next to me who got fed up with me asking my daughter (who played ice & roller hockey) what was happening every time the umpire blew for something!
Jeez. There is an Aussie referee doing the England v Australia rugby league World Cup and he’s given them everything. What a tw&t
The Aussies had half a dozen high and late tackles in the first 10 minutes - no penalty. England’s first tackle that was 50/50 is given as a penalty. No other occasion would you have a home referee in a World Cup Final.
FT 6-0 Opportunity missed, but well done to England in getting to the final and holding the Aussies to such a low score.
been trying a few different meats recently, rabbit stew last week, nice, quail tonight, hope it will be nice. Uncastrated boar next week, I hear it gives you the edge. What a load of bollocks! (Mr. Fury)
Well probably only two. If you get any more I'd check the provenance of the meat. Back on topic I have a confession to make and one that I honestly never thought I would be making. I've actually started to enjoy NFL. Like actually genuinely enjoy it. The BBC coverage with Osi Umenyiora and Jason Bell is really great as an introduction to tactics for a novice like me. I wonder if I've chosen the right team to follow in Philadelphia Eagles though.....
You glory hunter! And agree, I don't know anyone who when they have had the rules explained to them and actually understand what they are watching who doesn't quite like it at least. It is long and complicated though so most people get put off which I can understand.
glory supporter! They are smashing it this season although Wentz went down this pass weekend. I've always had a passing interest in NFL as i played it on the playstation and at uni. Bell and Osi with Chapman have definitely sparked my interest. I always download and watch them on the tube. They are pretty funny and have such a good banter on the screen
I know the Eagles are doing well this year but my extremely limited knowledge of the NFL tells me that this is the exception rather than the rule. Or am I wrong?
It is true, but another big plus of the NFL is that it goes in pretty quick cycles of teams being useless to being good within a couple of years. There are the exceptions, most notably the Browns who are consistently terrible despite always having high draft picks, but as a general rule most teams will have a good season where they look like being a potential Super Bowl contender within 5-10 years.
Yup Saint is correct in that teams are usually cylclical every 3 or 4 years with teams going good to bad. As he's mentioned, generally speaking, the browns always seem to do **** and are a basketcase. Likewise the Steelers, Packers and Patriots always seem to be there or there abouts (mainly due to very long living quarterbacks or successive quarterbacks).
Ticket has just arrived for the Lionesses v Wales in April at SMS. Only £1 for seniors. Forgot I'd ordered it....just put a big circle round the date on next year's calendar. Chance to see an England victory methinks. Looks out for Helen.
So Federer has been awarded the Overseas SPOTY by the BBC and its audience yet again? I appreciate that he has had a superb year, but it would have been nice for the BBC to have awared either Serena Williams this award just once as she has achieved just as much as Federer, yet not been given this prize. The other lady I would have liked to see given this award is the great Alyson Felix.
