Nothing at all. Vettel needs a top two finish or it's over. It'd take a miracle. Hamilton last finished a race outside the top seven in the final race of the 2013 season. Now he's likely to finish 8th or worse, and take a title in the process.
Nothing. Seb needs 1st or 2nd or Lewis is champ. Not going to happen without a retirement to Bottas or Max. Unless there’s a safety car.
Correct . Hamilton leads by 66 points . If Vettel finishes 3rd today , it’s all over even if Hamilton does not finish any of the remaining 3 races . 25 points for a win , and 15 for 3rd . So 65 max .
Lewis is driving like he plays for Saints today, but he’s still going to do it. In a bit of a damp squib way.
Cheers everyone, now it's been said I remember reading it earlier this week Agreed, though there's probably a touch of him knowing he doesn't need to push it and just wanting to finish.
The best part of the top drivers getting dropped to the back is that it gives Alonso and Matta the chance to be ornery.
That was brilliant to watch from Alonso just then. No other driver on the track would have been able to hold Lewis off in a much worse car like that. Never liked him personality wise but it's really not right seeing him struggle in a **** car
Verstappen has the most points of any driver over the last four races. Please, please, please keep this going into next year.
He minced everyone today. I don’t think Lewis would massively fear Dani Ric in a Merc. Max though... Let’s just hope Renault produce a good engine next year, because that McLaren chassis is something too. Could be a four way fight.
If F1 drivers were Saints - Hamilton = Van Dijk - world class, but a bit of a tit. Vettel = Gabbiadini - quality, but keeps getting hospital passes from his team Verstappen = Boufal - amazing talent, but needs to keep it simple sometimes Bottas = Romeu - you know what you're going to get. Consistent, steady and a great rear-gunner Ricciardo = Lemina - has the potential to do most things, but keeps breaking down at the moment Massa = Davis - unspectacular, appreciated by team, never going to set the world alight Hulkenburg = Tadic - sometimes great, sometimes disappears. Not always his fault. Raikkonen = Fonte - should have retired 2 years ago
Congratulations to Lewis, well deserved championship. Whether you love or hate the guy - well I doubt anyone loves him personality wise but you get the point - there's no doubting the guy is unbelievably brilliant and I actually think he's driving better than ever before at present. Guy is a true British sporting legend, and probably a legend of the sport in itself too now tbh. Well done Hamilton
Hamilton clearly the best driver this season again. I really hope Seb, Max, Ricciardo and Alonso can push him next season.
I know it's wishful thinking and probably a pipe dream but there's a slight possibility we could have a 3/4 team battle next year... Well probably not but I live in hope Either way though, I do think next season will be the last of Mercedes being comfortably ahead. Wouldn't surprise me if Lewis wins again next year but more narrowly and retires there and then on 5 tbh.
