Makes sense. Now is the time to rebuild the roster. Priorities to extend are Jefferson and Hockensen. And given Jefferson will surely become the highest paid WR ever when he signs his next contract (hopefully with the Vikings) money needs to be saved elsewhere.
Yeah it makes sense financially. Adofu-Mensah getting a lot of stick for entertaining trade offers but the options are pay Hunter or trade him. He is a top 10 edge rusher when he’s fit so will want that sort of money which the Vikings can’t really afford with Jefferson/Hockenson/Darrisaw contracts coming up. Adofu-Mensah is trying to sort out the issues caused by the previous GM overpaying basically everyone and putting the team in cap hell, and there will be some popular players leaving because of it. My hope (which has been the same for the last 3 years) is that the team just sucks up a season of being **** so they can position themselves to get one of the top QBs in the draft. It never happens and they’ll probably just extend Cousins
Cook being released @tomw24 was hopeful they might get something for him but obviously no market for him he’s on too much money for a running back so can see why another team wouldn’t want to take him on
Yeah a running back with 6 years playing in the NFL are usually very ****ed physically, think the average career length in the position is something like 3 seasons. But his contract would’ve been the big thing. Can see someone picking him up on a cheaper deal pretty quickly It’s a big loss as Mattison is average at best where as Cook had that “could score whenever he touched the ball” type threat. But he is only going to decline at his age and the Vikings are nowhere near being a Super Bowl calibre team so getting rid of his contract and ensuring the future with the younger players makes sense, even if it means that this upcoming season the team is going to be ****
Oh yeah it’s definitely the right move. Team is going to feel very weird this year with no Kendricks, Thielen, Hunter or Cook on it. Definitely an end of an era
Oh for sure. But a new era with Jefferson front and centre should be fun. I still can't see us completely tanking this upcoming season because we will score a lot of points. Worst case I see us winning 8 games. Which does us no good at all.
Id say they could lose a fair few more than that, looking at their schedule I think 4/5 wins is probably the lowest and entirely possible. But yeah I agree they will do something like 7-10 8-9 type season which is no good to anyone
London Irish file for administration after suspension from all club competitions - BBC Sport What is going on in the world of rugby union with this being the third Premiership club to enter administration in less than 12 months? At this rate there will only be six teams left in 12 months time. Is it a matter of an incompetent finance officer not looking at income and expenditure?
Such a shame Alcaraz suffered from cramp after the second set because those first two sets were unbelievable. Alcaraz is going to dominate the sport in years to come.
I just finished watching “Tour de France - Unchained” on Netflix, which is a documentary series in the mould of “F1: Drive to Survive”. It follows the 2022 Tour, and is an excellent appetiser for this year’s edition which starts in Bilbao on the 1st July. It’s very, very well done, focussing on a few of the leading teams but looking at some of the minor players as well. The almost superhuman feats of courage and endurance the riders achieve, day after gruelling day, are vividly portrayed. I loved the way the domestiques, the support riders, are occasionally given a chance for glory which some of them actually grab, particularly Tom Pidcock of Ineos Grenadiers, who managed to win the Alpe d’Huez stage in his debut Tour, taking the lead on a twisty, technical descent at speeds well in excess of 100 kph and holding on to the lead all the way up to the iconic summit finish. The heroism of Jumbo Visma’s Wout van Aert, who not only won the green jersey but enabled his teammate Jonas Vingegaard to win the maillot jaune with some incredible pace-setting in the mountains, was also a highlight. Thoroughly recommended!
Watched the first episode last night and it does appear to be very well done. Despite watching all of the tour last year the EF education bit about the opening time trail had escaped me so that was very interesting. Pretty sure I will smash out all the other episodes this week. There is clip on YouTube of Tom Pidcock descending a down mountain in the US which is worth a view. I have managed 86kph on descent out the back of Goodwood that was scary enough! In addition there is one about the Movistar team on Netflix as well which is worth a watch.
Just caught up with the Diamond League Athletics event held in Oslo last night. The e 1500 m for men was outstanding with Jacob Ingebrigsten winning in 3.27.95, a pb for him. The standout for me, though, being the first 8 home ran sub 3 30, while the guy who finished second to last was as far behind Ingebrigsten in running 3.32.24 as he was in front of the guy finishing last, Charles Grethen who ran 3.36.27.
Watched the Nottingham tennis today….switching with the cricket. Three out of four semi finalists were British girls….now both finalists are British. Not the top standard but some good games. Oh…a newcomer called Andy Murray is in the men’s final. Sure I know him from somewhere… must need the money
Great call by Williams to go out on the softs right at the start of Q2. Charles is fuming and I don't blame him. Lewis gets very lucky as Mercedes botched their strategy badly.
