But no one under 3.40 is not!! We all know many of these runners can run close to 3.32, maybe in Jish Kerr's case around 3.30 so they have sold the paying public short iwth a sub-standard performances. OK, perhaps they were saving themselves for the World Championships and Commonwealth Games but the first of these is still three weeks away. and they could have put down a marker to make other contenders like the Kenyans and Oliver from Australia worry about the British threat. (ps nobody is going to beat Ingebrigtsen over 1500m)
Nelson Piquet is a very unpleasant man. Lewis Hamilton and F1 condemn Nelson Piquet's racially abusive language about British driver - BBC Sport
Yes I know , and tbh I wasn’t aware of how little she had played , still surprised me ( at the time )
Young Emma knocked out in round 2. Interesting to hear Tim Henman say that she needs to work on some technical issues. One thing that puzzles me with her, is how many shots she seems to play from being on her haunches. I’m no expert in tennis, but I was taught how to hit a squash ball and it was emphasised that for maximum power and control you should be looking to hit the ball when it is at waist height. Her hitting the ball when it is so low must make it more difficult to hit it over the net, with power, without it going too long. Anyway, what do I know.
Awfully nice of Bernie to take the heat off of Piquet by making a slew of reprehensible comments of his own: https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/61992802
Emma who? Katie Boulter has knocked out 6th seed Karolina Pliskova! Pliskova reached last year's final as well. What a win that is.
Does anyone know why this kind of thing seems to happen semi-regularly in the women’s game but prettt much never in the men’s? Regularly changing finalists and unseeded players / rookies beating prior finalists. When you simply never get that happening to Djokovic, Federer, Nadal (i don’t follow closely enough to know if “never” is true here)
One of the simpler answers could be less sets. I'm sure if you look back there would be plenty of times those players you mentioned would be 2-1 down.
Good point actually. I definitely recall some Murray fight backs that just couldn’t happen the women’s game
Aus v Eng in the rugby has just got spicy. Yellow for Hill for hair pulling, red for Aussie Swain for a headbutt.
