Decent race for Mercedes, all things considered. I certainly think it's the most competitive they've looked and the car behaved itself. Charles held Max off very well in the first half of the race and then it was a cruise for him after Max retired. Albon gets a point for Williams!
Hard to see anything other than a Leclerc championship. Downside of a new formula is that the team that finds that right strategy (and some reliability) often turns it into a bit of a procession.
Way too early to call that (though, of course, I’d be fine with it!) Middle of European season for me.
Reliability is the biggest killer in F1, and Red Bull has had to park three cars in two races. Even if they're faster than Ferrari -- and to date, they haven't been -- it's basically impossible to win a championship with more than a handful of DNFs.
Oh for certain, but they and Merc are the masters of in-season development, and Ferrari are past masters of cocking stuff up!
Really struggling to care about this season over the farce at the end of last. Merc being miles off has made it even worse as i think Lewis will go at the end of the season and he'll never get number 8. #robbed
I’m enjoying it. Merc will sort their **** out. I hope Lewis stays longer, but these things are always cyclical.
It is modestly comical that Bottas went to everyone's favourites to be the bottom-feeders of F1, and he has now out-qualified Russell and Hamilton twice apiece in four races. And I'm enjoying it as well. F1 historically has two types of seasons: uncompetitive, or controversial. It sucked that such a good year as 2021 was ended on such a sour note, but so it goes. Doesn't devalue the fact that it was the best racing that F1 has seen in many years, and at least when none of the cars implode, this season has been competitive as well.
Well I have been a Formula One bystander for the last 6-7 years - watch it if its on, but not really follow it after 25+ years of being an absolute fanatic. Just binged the first 3 seasons of Netflix's "Drive to survive" and I am full on back! Loving it
28 years ago today I was watching the Imola GP hoping that Ayrton would finally sort out the Williams …..
It's what he does with the cue ball that astounds me. He just gets it in exactly the right position for his next shot. I mean, I can pot a few balls but the cue ball just goes where it wants afterwards!
