With the sun coming out talk of the up-coming cricket season, it reminded me that it must be coming up to the time for the annual pony and trap race along the A33 in Micheldever.
The England try was absolutely superb. In my opinion the best of the day and was the result of quick passing, a piroutte, a pass that took the French defenders away and powerful running, It makes it even more absurd that England engage in a kicking game against many teams. particularly against those that match the England forwards.
That was beautiful. What was telling though, was that Charles had Max well beaten, regardless of the issues.
With this being the first year of a new formula, I'd expect that we'll see a lot more mechanical retirements than we have in recent seasons. Teams are dealing with new systems and components, and will be trying to wring out every bit of performance from them. Verstappen and Perez likely aren't going to be the last to have to park it from a podium position.
Yeah, things had almost gotten too reliable. I don't want a return to the late 70s, where half the field grenaded their gearbox on a weekly basis, but forcing teams to toe that line between maximum performance and reaching the checkered flag makes for good racing.
Definitely. I'm disappointed that both McLaren and Aston Martin look woefully off the pace, because it means we're likely only going to have three teams competing at the top. Mercedes has a major choice to make, though: they're clearly third-fastest, how risky do they get in trying to chase down Ferrari and Red Bull? They were already worried about reliability in preseason testing, and now they have some time to make up.
Welcome to the colts Matty Ice! Don’t really know how I feel about that, obviously just a stop gap for a year but I always favour being as **** as possible in that scenario to give yourselves the best chance to earn a high draft pick to have the best options for players. Ryan, like Cousins, will lead the team to a mid round pick, maybe sneaking in to the 6th/7th seed. Less said about the Vikings this free agency the better, utter joke
I’m happy with Ryan. This is a weak QB draft class and none of the other rumoured moves in the QB market would’ve been as good as him. After the Wentz mess, they had to put a legitimate QB and leader in that locker room and they’ve done it. I think he’ll be pretty nice here, plus I think he runs for two years at a minimum. Colts have got to stop the carousel eventually and it makes more sense to do it in 2024+. I take your point on tanking but this Colts roster is too talented for that and has too many guys who are ready to push. It would cause a lot of discontent to just chuck away a year for a lot of those guys’ careers at this point. Let’s go Matty Ice.
Crikey, the Saudi GP looks on very wobbly ground as the drivers are expressing serious safety concerns (understandably) after a Houthi missile attack on an oil refinery 10km from the circuit.
Waiting for that crackpot Marko to accuse Mercedes of staging the whole thing to give them more time to sort their car out.
I don’t think the Houthi would attack the race, it would be an insane thing to do. But regardless, I don’t think it will, or should go ahead. If it’s bad PR for the Saudis, well they should be used to that…
Taken from the F1 Section . BBC Sport has learned that a significant number of drivers had concerns about the safety of the event following the attack. But eventually they were convinced to go ahead and race after being given further information by bosses. Part of this information involved the possible consequences of not racing, such as how easily teams and drivers would be able to leave the country if the race did not happen
