Not unexpected, but really disappointed to see McLaren this badly off the pace, as I'm a big fan of both Norris and Riccardo.
Kevin Magnussen is undoubtedly the story of the first qualifying so far. Seems Haas have got a competitive car at last. Guenther Ramsey will be happy swearing today.
Hopefully Mercedes can sort their issues out quickly because we'd be looking at Max v Lewis v Charles for the Championship which would be epic.
In-season improvement has always been Mercedes' biggest advantage, so it certainly isn't out of the question. Having a tight race at the top would benefit them...think their worst-case was one of Ferrari/Red Bull having a distinct lead over the other (with both above them).
That try in the closing seconds has to be seen to be believed. The Italian full back Ange Capuozzo, who weighs just 11 stone, ran past the entire Welsh team, down the wing, slipped a perfect pass inside to his wing Padovani who finishes under the posts, for Garbisi to make the match winning conversion. That is the first time Italy have EVER won in Wales.
I feel You are right. England got rid of Stuart Lancaster for producing an underachieving England but Jones seems infalible. Anyhow it is good that France have rediscovered their mojo and are producing their best rugby since the days of Serge Blanco. We might have been in our 20s or early 30s when he was playing.
