He does have a 5 place grid penalty as well for Sunday so he needs to finish the sprint in 5th or above really.

Lewis had serious pace. If Bottas can keep Max behind him tomorrow then you never know. But Lewis should end up on the podium tomorrow.

 

That was thrilling from Lewis. Loved that drive. It tells me we should keep the sprint but tweak it going forward. Traditional qualifying to set the grid for Sunday and have a sprint on Saturday with points on offer and set it as a reverse grid from qualifying.

 

Fair play to Bottas - that was a top drive to get ahead of Max and keep ahead.

 

So Sprint race just for points and not linked to the actual race? I’d be happy with that.
I think points would have to be for more than just top 3…. The danger is if it goes to too many points though mid table teams might start throwing qualifying to boost sprint chances!

I do wonder if Bottas was under any sort of orders that he should make contact with Verstapoen if he couldn’t keep him behind….. but was so poor off the line he couldn’t even do that!
