It's been her pattern to date: she just grinds and fights for every point, and at some stage, she wears her opposition down both physically and mentally. She's relentless.
Yeah, my feeling going in was that either Raducanu would steamroll to a two-set win, or Fernandez would grind her way to a win in three. The first six games have gone more according to Fernandez's plan than Raducanu's.
Fernández hits the ball so fiercely that maybe Emma should try taking some pace off of some of her returns, much like Murray does, to get the opponent to try and hit the ball too hard and mistime it. Mix it up a bit like a fast bowler.
On the other hand, it’s not Emma’s fault that she hasn’t been tested yet. Fernandez is taking Emma places she hasn’t had to go, but she is matching her so far.
Absolutely. But the one unquestionable thing in this match is that Leylah has basically boundless stamina. Emma might also, but if it gets to that point, I'd bet on the person who has already outlasted a bunch of top players.
All the flag worship. Ewww. I guess 9/11 related but makes me cringe. Don't worship your nation, people. Question it.
