Japan is quite unfortunate to be located in an area that is not only prone to typhoons but also lies on tectonic plate boundaries. So it's pretty much prone to any natural disaster you can think of.
What sort of conditions are we expecting for the race tomorrow? Torrential rain, high winds, anyone have an update? Is there a risk it will be called off?
Indeed. And only a relatively small percentage of Japan is easily habitable, so the vast majority of people are clustered into cities. Which presents problems, given the tectonic instability and location for wind storms.
