Argh! So frustrating! Going onto slicks at that point was bonkers. Lewis got very, very fortunate with this safety car.
The great irony is that Verstappen throwing on slicks might win him the race, even though it was a truly awful choice. Everyone else responded, and that resulted in Leclerc (who was about to catch him) stuffing it, and Lewis getting a rhinoplasty.
They'd been making all the right decisions, too, but Ferrari will do what Ferrari will do. What I find fascinating is that it seems like none of the drivers wanted slicks, and by the time many of them switched to them, they'd have already seen Verstappen struggling to keep it pointing in the right direction.
Lance Stroll on slicks with a damp course? I predict we'll have another safety car in two laps. Bahahaha, I answered your question without knowing it'd been asked.
Give Albon the Gasly seat. Or Kvyat. Give anyone the Gasly seat. Edit: ...and he runs into Albon. Of course he does.
Just caught up on the race. Wow! I do love a race in the wet. Off day for Lewis but Bottas crashing out means the damage is very minimal.
22 year old Colombian Egan Bernal gives his victory speech on the podium in English, Italian, Spanish, and finally French.
That was the Vettel of old. Very good performance, made all the right calls at the right times & thoroughly deserved his podium. Biggest loser today, Bottas, he'll be gutted with that spin & lost points. F1 Carnage, 10/10
Just catching up on another bout of highlights. When Lewis was in for the catastrophic 50 sec pit stop chaos, the commentator goes; 'It's like a minute for the stop, like it was back in the fifties, well I suppose they are celebrating their annirversary!' Laughed out loud at that bit! Brilliant!
