I always thought that Americans definition of a billion was 100 million, where as the UK version was 1000 million. So when discussing billionaires there are far more in America than in the UK/Europe. This of course could just be something someone told me ages ago and for some reason I took it as fact without ever really checking myself.
I was sort of right but got the numbers wrong The old UK meaning of a billion was a million million, or one followed by twelve noughts (1,000,000,000,000). The USA meaning of a billion is a thousand million, or one followed by nine noughts (1,000,000,000). So UK is a million million and American was 1000 million, so not 100 and 1000 like I thought. Come to Not606 and get educated, there is a first
Ah Jules... didn’t realise he was so close to Charles. Was that the horrific one in the wet in Japan?
That vid is why it makes me laugh when people question his mental strength. The kid has been through a heck of a lot. What they don’t mention is that one of the two race wins at Baku just after his father’s death was from the back of the grid.
I knew they were very VERY close , as were their fathers IIRC ? Did not know Jules was Charle's God father .
Tsitsipas, who I thought could be a contender for this year´s mens´singles, dumped out in round one. I seem to remember a few others exiting in Round 1 at Wimbledon at the beginning of their successful tennis careers - McEnroe and Lendl!!!
Venus Williams must be in her 40s by now! Surprised she still plays singles tbh as it seems like it’s been a long time since she’s been at her best especially with the illness problems she’s faced. Notice Osaka lost and is out already. The Williams sisters period of dominance aside, the woman’s game is far more volatile than the men’s has been in the last 15 years or so.
Anyone who sat through Tsonga v Tomic should be given a refund or a free pass to another day's play Utterly woeful and disgraceful from Tomic, there's plenty of other players who'd dream of being in Wimbledon who have to watch him barely bother trying
So it looks like Murray will partner Serena Williams in the mixed doubles...they have to register by 11 o'clock today. Apparently he was limping after practice with his men's doubles partner...hope that was only minor. This would suddenly push mixed doubles to the front of the agenda. I have always liked mixed doubles...usually fun (though I wouldn't say that close to Andy and Serena).
She played unbelievably well. So few unforced errors, such power and accuracy, and playing the right shots at the right times. Comes up with big serves when under pressure on her serve. Hitting returns like it’s easy and doesn’t seem phased by the occasion or pressure. I can’t believe she’s only 15!
GB's Harriet Dart through to the 3rd round to meet World number 1, Barty. Great experience for her....not to mention a nice little earner.
Dan Evans beats the number 18 seed...saw a lot of the match and Evans was impressive. Has really knuckled down after his years suspension. Apparently he said that winning tennis matches beats nights out. It certainly pays better. Konta through in straight sets as well.
