Talk about doctoring the seedings in an attempt to get Roger Federer to another Wimbledon final!! Seeded 2!! At the moment Nadal and Djoko would demolish him, but as things stand only one will have the chance to achieve this. I suppose all the heavyweights are in Djoko´s half of the draw as well?
So who are number one and two in the world in men´s singles, then? Federer has come nowhere the level of Djoko or Nadal in this year´s slams, so it begs the question why he is seeded two? Granted he is arguably the greatest grass court player, but this is now and seeding should be determined by current form not past achievements. I would also suggest it is an attempt to please his many followers who want to see him win one more slam and what better way to do this than avoid playing either of the top two in a semi. PS: Take your sarcasm at fellow contributors elsewhere as it is offensive. I don´t indulge in this at the expense of others on this board, even if the comment seems odd. Thanks!!
Did I catch you at a bad time, Ides? I'm not interested in Tennis, so don't take it to heart. Just a joke. Didn't mean to make you feel bad about my attitude.
Tonic Water and ice!! To keep cool. By the way, I do owe you an apology of sorts and they haven´t decided which half of the draw Nadal will be put in yet. As a non lover of the game, you have 2 weeks of boundless joy.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/48768664 The seedings have always been different for Wimbledon. It does seem a little unfair, but it's not new and everyone knows that that's the way it is. "It does not seem logical at first glance that men and women are seeded differently, but this is a result of separate agreements with the ATP and WTA Tours. Employing a special formula has merit when you consider the short nature of the grass-court season, and the fact some players really struggle to live up to their ranking at Wimbledon. But it can also throw up some interesting scenarios, such as Kevin Anderson's promotion to number four. Last year's runner-up has the pedigree of a fourth seed, but has only been able to play two matches in three months owing to an elbow injury."
There is another difference between the LTA and WTA...that is that women can be coached on court (once a set I believe). Now this has been around for a couple of years and I assumed it was something the women wanted, but apparently it was instigated by an American TV company who thought it would liven things up ??? Obviously some players find it useful or they wouldn't use it...others don't and never call their coaches down.
The London Stadium ready to host Europe's first ever MLB game on Saturday and I'll be there. Really looking forward to it.
Just because you think it's boring it doesn't mean everyone agrees. This series sold out quickly and another series for next year has been confirmed to be held in London.
I admire their ability to hit the ball.....I played rounders for 5 years and never managed to hit the ball once
