Where are Williams? please log in to view this image Andrew Benson BBC Sport’s chief F1 writer The car is still at the team’s factory in Grove, Oxfordshire, and the current hope is that it will be ready to fly to Spain late on Tuesday. That means it is unlikely at this stage that the car will run first thing Wednesday morning, but the team are hoping to get it out on to the track at some stage that day. The delay is leading to speculation about the future of chief technical officer Paddy Lowe, who joined from Mercedes in 2017 and is ultimately responsible for the car. Just as concerning for Williams, insiders say the car does not look like it will be quick when it does finally hit the track. Sources say the car is projected to be as much as two seconds slower than last year’s, which was already the slowest on the grid. Rule changes to front wings have reduced downforce but many teams have clawed a large part of it back. If the word from inside the team is accurate, Williams could be facing a season adrift of the rest of the field.
Ferrari have said they’ll prioritise Vettel it nevessary for the first part of the season. Ugh. Piss off. Let the kid race.
Already worried about Hamilton. Although Mercedes will clearly prioritise Hamilton. But the gap between Lewis and Bottas is somewhat bigger than Vettel and Leclerc IMO.
Suspect that would have been part of Vettel “agreeing” to have CLC as a teammate. I hope he gets so far in front they don’t have that choice!
Just what the olympics needs https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/47317052 Tony Estanguet, a three-time canoeing Olympic champion and head of the Paris 2024 organising committee, said the inclusion of the new sports would make the Olympics "more urban" and "more artistic".
I’m going to propose “eating curry while watching football on TV”, and “going down the pub for an argument” as future Olympic sports.
As we are on an Olympic theme, it is just posible that the 1500m for men Will enter a Golden period again after years of being in the doldrums. We witnessed a Kenyan 1 and 2 at the last World Championships in a pretty quick time. Not to be outdone, neighbours Ethiopia are producing 1500m of the highest calibre as seen by this youngster at the indoor championships. It will be great to see Ethiopia and Kenya battling for dominance in the middle and long distances again. https://www.bbc.com/sport/athletics/47265679
I can see break dancing as a logical extension to floor exercises in gymnastics, but where do you stop....there are already people proposing ballroom dancing as an Olympic sport. And why not....not dissimilar to ice dancing and gymnastics and you have to be fit. Darts is like archery, but not associated with fitness. I suppose Olympics is flexible....many sports have been in and out of the event....we just have to sit back and enjoy.
I pick and choose what I watch during the Olympics anyway. Mainly watch the Athletics but do watch some other sports too. I think if they introduce Chess then they've probably taken the diversification of 'sport' too far.
