A good winning time by Matthew Hudson-Smith. Well inside 45 seconds. World-class running there without having world-class runners to help him along.
Close in heptathlon, but good silver for Johnson-Thompson. Just needed a bit more in the javelin. Haven't looked at the golf yet....but it is apparently a special tournament devised for these Championships....as unlike other sports it wasn't just a case of moving an event.
Just watched a replay of the men´s 1500m and the Young Norwegian ran a great race. I hate a guy coming charging through from the back of the field grabbing a medal like the Pole did. Serves him right that he did not get gold as he did nothing for the first 1400m of the race, Well done to the British runner, who was hard done by not to get the silver as he was up there challenging all the time. PS: Who do these Norwegians think they are? Kenyans? It will be fascinating seeing the development of Norwegian 1500m running leading up to the next Olympics
Surely if you come charging through at the end you sabed energy amd deserve what you get? Isn't that race strategy?
What an amazing end to the ladies 3m diving, Alicia Blagg (GB) held off her main rival and was in gold medal position, when Grace Reid (GB) trying to hold onto bronze did such a fantastic last dive she jumped 2 places and snatched gold. Wonderful and awful depending on your viewpoint.
If you are happy with a guy doing that so be it and you are entitled to you view, but the guy had done nothing to contribute to the race. Glad he could not get the gold. If he had taken up the pace, he could have won the gold with a kick like that.
That is a very good time!! She must be the UK´s answer to the great Allyson Felix, who is now coming to the end of a wonderful career.
McColgan had bronze nailed on in 5000m, then got silver because one of the girls in front of her stopped a lap short thinking the race had finished. Watta mistaka to maka.
GB men win 100 m relay and GB top the athletics medal table. Russians take the overall trophy...the first time European countries have competed for this combination championship. GB took second place overall.
